it does look funny but why even call it 21 jump street if it has nothing to do with 21 fucking jump street? just riding off the name and imo kinda does a disservice to the new movie because everyone will just say "another stupid remake" when it's not. whatever

Another stupid remake.

Seriously this doesn't look good. Reminds me of "The Other Guys". They shouldn't have called it 21 jump street unless they plan to piggy back the movie with a tv series.

In the trailer, the captain sends them to "21 Jump St (the old rusty gate displays the address)" where an old undercover program is being revived. The department specializes in putting "Justin Bieber lookin muthafuckas" in high schools to bust drug rings. Here is the description of the plot of the OG TV series from Wiki:

The series focused on a group of police officers headquartered at the titular address. These officers were all young in age and had especially youthful appearances which allowed them to pass for teenagers. Their assignments generally consisted of undercover work in high schools or, less commonly, colleges, where they generally investigated drug trafficking and abuse
Also, there is a split second cut scene when they arrive at "21 Jump Street"...of Holly Robinson. Who knows who else they will bring back for a cameo. Im sure Peter DeLuise, Dustin Nguyen, Steven Williams, Michael DeLuise, Michael Bendetti, Richard Grieco, and Frederic Forrest aint doin much these days that they wouldn't agree to show up.

well right, I understand the references but it's still just ripping off the name.

It would be like making a movie called Cheers and referencing Norm, Woody & Dr. Frasier Crane, and maybe even stopping by the bar in the movie, but it's a crime thriller about a psychotic serial killer who rapes and dismembers women. lol. you get what I'm saying?

I mean if you're going to make a comedy that is inspired by an old sitcom do what McGruber did which was a play on the original name or something like that.
