2 Monitors

i've been in a few recording studios and i've seen that some have 2 monitors (screens) connected to one computer...what is the purpose of this...

I know some guys that use it for Pro Tools, so they can have the mix and edit screens up at the same time.

i know someone who uses 3 in Nuendo
one monitor for the sequence view, one monitor for the mixer view, and the third monitor for other things such as fx plugins, or if the mixer view needs to be wider.

If you track in Cubase/Nuendo you know that your screen gets cluttered up pretty easily. So like the others said, it helps with having more onscreen at the same time and helps with workflow.

how do you set something like that up, cuz i could use that extra monitor....

Workflow is exactly what multiple monitors is about. It speeds things up and makes it a lot easier to do several things at once (if it's convenient).

All you need is a graphics adapter that supports multiple monitors. There's tons of them that do.
