Where do you think Homeboy rap is in the game. at the top, dead, or in the middle waiting to rise and shine. No bs, just give your opinion and discuss amongst each other. Imo it's current state isn't dead or at the top but it's somewhere in the middle about to go off like a rocket.

its on the low end of the totem pole if you ask me, its a very specified niche area of rap, its the kind of music where most of the fans are core fans and it isnt going to draw in new fans outside of its own boundries, I mean fans of this type of music into their own areas artists, their own areas represenatives if you will, thats not the type of thing that are gonna turn on "outsiders" if you know what i mean, i think the best homeboy rap is going to do, and I hope it will do, is grow extremely strong with its core, if the core can grow strong, others will see that and turn on to it in small numbers, there is no way its gonna blow up, its never gonna be on mtv or anything, but i wouldnt want to see that anyway, shit is never gonna blow up and i say good

Last time I checked mtv there was nothin' but bitches arguin' with each other instead of seein' music. And nobody's sayin' "yeah lets keep supporting homeboy rap so it can make it on mtv!" all's i'm sayin' is if it were to ever reach that point then it would be the end of it as we know a long with all the popcorn shit music they got on there. I just wanted to see everybody's opinion as to were they think it's at. No need to come start nothin'. If you're not gonna contribute, then just don't write nothin'. simple.

speaking as far as blowing up with exposure id say they best homeboys can hope for is local radio play, its never gonna be mainstream and it shouldnt. Its hard to pull in new fans because if you dont feel the subject matter you probably never will, as far as new rappers, and good music the skies the limit in that respect. Eventually someone will come out like Woodie who was a great rapper/musician whatever you wanna call it, regardless of subject matter, Big Tone is another guy thats gonna reach alot of people and draw in new fans, its like anyother kinda music, support the real hardcore folks and thats what will survive to low points in a genres life. Look at guys like Billy Ray Cyrus, that dude blew the hell up, had everybody doin country shit, then he became a fat ass joke, country music is just recently recovering to represent what it did before, Woodie was the best Norte rapper, probably ever imo, now hes gone, we need to support the real rappers, and keep the faith and it will work out where our core is hella strong and we have a wiiiiide variety of shit to listen to. Homeboy rap will never, ever be on TV, there will never be a norte solja boy, but it does in fact have the possibility to become a strong stand alone genre of music fully representing itself. just my 2 cents

As much as I wanna say their are many talented Northern Artists. When its strictly banging and gang'd out you are limiting yourself. With shows like gangland and what you see on the local news what proud parent would want their kids listening to the hard stuff?

If I was to say Mr Kee is someone that could definitely break boundaries a bunch of ya'll will be complaining like hes not Norteno etc. He makes real good music and most of us could relate to his songs, hes spit with the best of the OG NOrthern Artists why only a few support him if not more he'd make a real big difference demographic wise. He could break into markets that could pave the way into to expose the Northern Artist that make real good music....

I mean at onetime Woodies music was being heard on a cable network reality show. No one really knew how to market their music in that sense. I guess it was like fishing waiting with your pole in the water until you snag yourself something....

Only some norte rappers have potential to go major because of their skill and following.Big Oso Loc is an example, the man has love songs, gangbanging songs, life songs,he really has touched on alot of things and thats why he has a following from non-bangin chicanos/latinos and other groups that make up his fanbase.Sir Dyno too, alot of young mexicans/chicanos listened to him because he talked about raza and our people's suffering and struggle.Sir Dyno gots his gangbanging songs, raza songs, love songs, and plus he has/was been rapping since the late 80's.
So............I say "homeboyrap" would go to the top,or maybe make leaps, if it stopped being "homeboyrap" and just became rap.It aint good if you put yourself in a category and then only a limited number of people are attracted to that category.
