Loud.com Announces the Launch of its 2nd $100,000 Online Rap Battle Contest and Producer Challenge
Posted @ 07-10-2008

Loud.com, a top-rated growing online resource for aspiring recording artists and producers, has announced the start to its 2nd $100,000 online rap battle contest and producer challenge. The contest is the next installment in the site’s online rap battle competitions, where users to the site compete through rounds of elimination for a cash prize and recording contract with SRC/Universal Motown. Recording artist Tha Crow, who was one of nine top finalists, was selected June 2nd as the first grand prize winner, and is now working on his debut album to be released on SRC/Universal Motown.

The new competition will also grant registered users a chance to upload original music to the Loud.com website; a feature restricted from the previous competition and submit the original compositions as entries for the chance to win $100,000 dollars and a SRC/Universal Motown recording contract. These users will have access to the Loud Online Recording Studio, which will grant them access to some of music’s biggest name hip-hop producers including Sha Money XL, DJ Green Lantern, Havoc of Mobb Deep, Cool and Dre, and DJ Khaled. Running alongside this 20 week competition will be the Producer Challenge, a new addition to the competition which gives aspiring music producers a chance to add their original beats to the Loud Online Recording Studio making them accessible to rap battle contestants. The winning producer will take home $15,000 in cold, hard cash as well as a production deal through SRC/Universal Motown.

“We are working to present all creative instruments for our community on Loud.com to make them future multi-faceted stars within the music industry,” explains Ayal Kleinman, VP, New Media & Marketing for Loud.com. “By providing an improved platform to our users, we hope to make the talent pool even better this time around, and find the next hot aspiring MC and producer we can absorb into the SRC Records/Loud.com family.”

At the end of the 20 weeks, a producer winner will be chosen, along with 10 rapper finalists who will go through a set of challenges embodied into the webisode series, The Finalists: Season 2. The final winner will be announced in later this year. The dual contest will add a $15,000 cash prize and a SRC/Universal Motown production deal, in addition to the $100,000 cash prize and record deal for the registered MC’s.
