Well, in my case, EVERYONE I know is on Facebook, including pretty much my entire bible thumping family and all my co-workers. That alone keeps me away and I'd feel too bad if they tried to add me and I denied them. Nobody is on Myspace anymore and I like it like that for that very reason. I mostly use it to keep in touch w/ long distant friends. AND... I dunno if Facebook has caught up with Myspace in the music department, but I like Myspace's Music Player.
I understand that they practice the same, but there are a shitload more ppl I personally know on Facebook than there is on Myspace. So yeah...
Myspace>Facebook
you know... i totally get where you're coming from. it seems like the whole world is on facebook now.
the first time i signed up, i was so creeped out; before even entering any information, it suggested all these people i might know... including my coworkers, former boss, random people i designed websites for (because i guess they had all uploaded their address books and had my email address in there), etc... i was so creeped out i immediately deleted my account.
fast forward about a year later, almost all of my friends deleted their myspaces and moved to facebook. i started to feel left out, so i finally caved and made a new account.
of course a bunch of work people requested me, but the privacy settings are pretty good; you can put people on different lists and decide exactly what parts of your profile or which photo albums they can and can't see... so you can hide certain stuff from work people or family if necessary.
plus i just don't post anything too personal to begin with, to avoid any lamebook worthy incidents.
but i totally know what you mean; it's kind of crazy to find everybody you've ever known on one website...
