Hi, I'm a new member. Just curious to see how many fans of the music we have in here and how many actually make music? What kind of bay area music do you make? Mobb, hyphy or new age shit? If not why?

This site has 14 producers and 114 rappers. All nortay hyphy/mobb combo.

Well, I grew up in a recording studio, I used to be a selling artist as a producer, beat maker, rapper- and I even made album covers. I mean I have worked with some pretty well known artists but I left the game almost 10 years ago.... Look, I like rap and I've been rapping since 1992 but the older I got I just couldn't stand the negativity and dudes popping dudes for diss tracks?

And look man, I still make music - I just jumped on the Synthwave bandwagon - and I even freestyle over Synthwave sometimes but I try to keep it positive instead of negative because all that gangsta shit will fuck with your mind - especially if you're from the hood.... I mean a lot of people just put in some G-Funk, listen to it and that's it - now imagine if that CD was your reality and you're in the middle of the chaos and madness and you gotta walk around with a pistol - I know that shit sounds exciting to some but the older you get it just gets nasty.... So that's why I walked away from the rap game and the only "silver lining" in any of this is that if you make it to your late 30's you get OG status - and these little gangbanger punks will get their shit split for fucking with an OG -- but none of that changes the fact that all of this shit in the rap game - at least here in Chicago - is negative..

So yeah, I'm a rapper, producer, beat maker, graphic artist and I will always be - I have just taken my skills and used my talents in a more positive constructive manner ...... Oh and BTW, I HATE Chicago "drill rap" and I invented it .... Look, I was digging the ATL at the time and even Florida like Trick Daddy so I was trying to come up with something that was a fusion between Chicago, the ATL and that whole Florida sound so I made a maxi-single of essentially "drill rap" - now EVERY IDIOT is producing drill rap - and it all sounds the same... It blows my mind - and not only that but I feel profoundly guilty over how many people have been killed over that style of music.....

Look, I suppose my whole point is that music can corrupt and excite people and I think us rappers/musicians need to think long an hard about how our ideas can affect society...... To put it simply - how the hell would you feel if one of your tracks inspired some dumb kid to pull a drive by??? that shiznit happened to me - I was just angry freestyling taking my anger out on the microphone, I thought it was an authentic dope track (because it was) so I put it on my mixtape - and this idiot goes and pulls a drive by, and killed a little girl and then he plead "insanity" and seriously tried to claim that it was my fault.... Obviously I wasn't responsible - that knicca was the one that pulled that trigger .... But whatever man, I just thought I would share my perspective on music and how "deep" it can get sometimes and how what we produce can affect others.

But like I said - yes I'm a musician and producer and I still enjoy making music - I mean like I said I grew up in a recording studio, I mean my dad was essentially a local "rock star" back in the 70's and he went on to become an engineer/producer and the same goes for my moms side of the family - they're professional musicians...... Point being is that music or the talent to create music runs through my veins on both sides of the family so..... And it's funny, my parents never cared much for my rap - but now they love my synthwave but I think they dig that because they were essentially making "synthwave" in the early 90's - I and many others just improved it, lol.

Sorry getting into the details but I just thought it was important to share.
