Most definitely, this may be a Jordan/Lebron argument--there would be no Chapelle without Pryor. Nevertheless I'd say theres a case to be made for GOAT status in regards to Dave Chapelle.
He is my favorite. Im not deep into standup to qualify if hes the goat or not. But from my perspective, hes my favorite. I also like Ralphie May, who doesnt seem to be as well regarded. But he was funny to me
burr, chappelle, regan, gaffigan, rock, katt before the breakdown, carlin, too many good comdians to name. hicks was good but too preachy and 'talk at you' at times. louis ck has his moments but overall is kinda bland to me

I saw him a couple of times around the 2004-2007 timeframe. It was in a restaurant that hosted a comedy night every Wednesday. Only about 20 people would show up, so it was usually a real up-close and personal experience. Most of those comedians would know your name by the end of the show since the crowd was so small. Cool story, bro.
To me there really is no GOAT when it comes to comedy. .Many standup comedians comedy comes from their personal pain/struggle, etc. so it doesn't necessarily translate in comparison imo
Most definitely HATING. He said Chapelle was good, but not equal to the amount of money he got from Netflix. Blame netflix dog. Hate the game not the player---hater.
He also tried to say that The Chapelle show owes its stature to Charlie Murphy's writing, that the first season was no good and had no memorable sketches. (Charlemagne dropped the ball and couldn't name any.)
