THE SHIT WAS EPIC.

TO BE A BIT MORE SPECIFIC, THE INTAKE MANIFOLD EXPLODED UPON TRYING TO START IT AND A FIRE ENSUED RIGHT AFTER.

SUPPOSEDLY FROM A BAD FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR THAT LET FUEL LEAK INTO THE INTAKE MANIFOLD OR SUM SHIT.

IM WRITING THIS TO LET OTHERS KNOW THAT IF YOU OWN A GM CAR THAT HAS THE 3800 SERIES 2 ENGINE I HIGHLY ADVISE YOU CHECK OR GET A NEW FPR...ALSO PROBABLY TAKE IT TO A GM DEALER CAUSE A FEW WERE ACTUALLY RECALLED.

BELOW I WILL POST A VIDEO OF THE WORST CASE SCENARIO WHICH IS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME....THEN I WILL POST A LIST OF CARS THAT USED THAT ENGINE VIA WIKI.

L36 Naturally Aspirated[edit]

A variation of the L36 engine in a 1998 Holden VT Commodore

Another variation of the L36 engine in a 1995 Oldsmobile 88
This engine was used in the following vehicles:

1996-2005 Buick LeSabre
1997-2005 Buick Park Avenue
1996-2004 Buick Regal LS
1995-1997 Buick Riviera
1995 California only, 1996-2002 Chevrolet Camaro
2000-2005 Chevrolet Impala
1997-1999 Chevrolet Lumina LTZ
1998-2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo (Z34, LT, SS)
1995-2004 Holden Commodore (VS, VT, VX, VY)
Holden Caprice (VS, WH, WK)
Holden Ute (VU, VY)
1995-1999 Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight
1998-1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue
1996-1998 Oldsmobile LSS
1997-1998 Oldsmobile Regency
1995-2005 Pontiac Bonneville
1995 California only, 1996-2002 Pontiac Firebird
1997-2003 Pontiac Grand Prix

THROUGH MY RESEARCH, IVE BEEN TOLD THIS DOES NOT AFFECT THE SERIES 1 OR SERIES 3 ENGINES.....NOR DOES IT AFFECT ANY OF THE SUPERCHARGED ENGINES.......ONLY THE SERIES 2 NORMALLY ASPIRATED VERSION.

Fortunately you weren't injured and just a vehicle, that can be replaced, is gone. You have a child right? They need you. I do find it odd you took your vehicle to so.e crappy shop not too long ago and now this though, but there's nothing that can be done about that, unfortunately. Peace

The car I took earlier was my girls old car(2000 dodge intrepid)

this one that got the bizzness is a 2001 Buick Regal LS.

Yea man I got two kids....3 yr old girl and 15 year old son......he was the one cranking when it blew. Probably scarred him for life smh.

I was trying to jump the buick and i was standing in front of the intrepid when it happened (they were side by side)......mine was worse than that video because i had took my engine cover off some time ago.....shit flew everywhere....sounded like a 12 gauge goin off

thanks g

DAMN CRAZY... HOPEFULLY OU HAD FULL COVERAGE...
OR ARE ABLE TO CLAIM IT AS RESULT OF THE RECALL

About that...

I didn't have insurance. I can't remember if I posted on here about the car getting sideswiped a few months back, and I didn't have insurance then. My PLAN was to sell the car and do it right on the NEXT car.

After that, I ran into smog issues...tags expired so I just let it sit and I would go move it every few days and go wash it. The battery died twice this last time being LAST time smh.

And my car was a year out the recall window as 2000 was the last year for the recall.....which sucks because a 2001 is the exact same as a 2000.

Insurance will be priority number one on my next whip.

But here's my question, would full coverage on an old car like that cover fire loss...what would I get?.... Blue book value or would they fix it or what?

If the repair cost more than 50% of the value of the vehicle then your car would be totaled out.
I appreciate the response g.

The only time I remember havin to actually use my insurance was back in 98-99 when I hit a deer in Kentucky at 3 in the morning. Havent had full coverage since due to my own stupidity. It really is not worth not having insurance.

Also im gonna get a fire extinguisher too to put in the car....hell might even buy one for the house too.
