Power is stupid cheap now. The 3 main options are chinese, like the CAB, Korean like Sundown, DC, DD or Brazillian, like Taramaps and Banda. All topologies differ. I prefer and run Korean because i compete and Korean withstands the most abuse (ie 0.25 burps at 11v).

The motorforce of subs now days is crazy. People with 1 12 are as loud as people who had 4 15s walled in the 90s.

Im running 2 12s on a korean 3k and do 151 legal.

Zapco still makes good shit, but their lower lines got outsourced to china.

Imo Sundown is the best all around company.

They arent always more expensive. Some companies will do minor changes like different spiders for only like 20$ a sub. Coils, carbon cones is where cost adds up.

But there is almost always a tradeoff. My subs in stock format sound cleaner than with the parts now. But mine get louder.

Custom is almost never needed for daily systems. Most of the legit competitor oriented companies will do custom subs

I used to have HellaBeats. Remember them!?

Now my truck has 4 6x9 and two of whatever the best shallow mounts 10s fosgate makes. And the best fosgate amps. It sounds pretty good but doesn't shake like some of the things out there.

My other car has a shitty stock radio.

Shallow mounts just dont have the excursion capabilities of traditional subs. Sundown makes a nice sub, sd3, that isnt a true shallow, but has very limited mounting depth.

Now days, the beefy 8s are stronger than shallow mounts. When i do truck installs, i suggest 8s ported over shallows
