Don't know why but I will say I was lucky to get the "Jack Artist" cd at a reasonable price before it went up. Cd is untouched for being "used".

On a side note, I think my brother in law still has the original "jack artist" burnt cd that was floating around Pittsburg before the official cd dropped.

Welcome to the collectors world.....where nothing makes sense. And Euros, Canadians etc drive up the price on most of it. Jacka CDs are really not all that rare, they got respectable presses. I collect tapes, and there are tapes that literally got like a 100 unit press 25 years ago. Shit like that understandably cracks off. But 3-6 mafia tapes have been going for well over 100$ and they had nationwide distro.

People also capitalized on Jackas passing. I saw alot listed on the anniversary of his passing. It all went high.

Make connections with people who collect for the right reasons, and you'll find reasonably priced shit. But the ppl who collect simply as resellers are terrible

I have a ton of jacka cds. My cd collection is over 1,000 albums a lot of rare shit.

Those jacka cds are bank because they were pressed once and when they sell out you cannot find em again. Even joe blow cds and lil rue cds etc.. are expensive if its a good album thats out of press. If you look on amazon or ebay for out of print bay shit its all $30- $500.

Tbh, if you are finding alot of copies, it isnt rare. Shit ive been looking for might have 1 copy surface every 5 years. I see jacka cd's listed often, so they arent that rare. Its just an inflated market.

I could have 1000$ for 4tray block and Drifta right now, and a copy wouldnt surface. Thats rare

Thats the thing tho.... they ARE rare and you CANT find a lot of copies. There is 2 copies of self titled one on ebay right now and both are $100- $200. A few of his albums i have arent even on the internet for sale. You fasho wont find em in any store either. They are rare and they are priced high because they have become collectors items just like most other collectors items. Sadly when someone passes away and their material is rare is the time shit inflates.

just cuz u can find copies of something don't mean it's not rare .. if a cd sells for 200 bux, best believe it's rare. are there more rare? sure .. there's levels to this shit

Ya theres definately levels. I guess to some, a readily available copy is rare if its pricey. Ive been looking for some albums for years, and would pay significantly more than 200$ for them and theyve never even surfaced.

Unfortuneately, as I suspected, sellers are driving up Jackas market. When I viewed completed items on eBay, the same seller has sold multiple copies of Jack Artist. This happens alot; a seller will be sitting on a stack of a given album, and only post 1 at time. Ebay is also notorious for schill bidding on stuff like that...

There is also the Jacka factor. Hes one of the most beloved bay artists of all time. Hes a legit west coast underground king and his fans are true die hard fans. That is why 3-6 shit cracks; they have a cult like fanbase.

Keep checking ebay, discogs, amazon etc. You can sometimes find amazing shit just cuz its slightly mislabeled or miscategorized.

u not talking rare, u talking impossible to find ....theres currently only about 2-3 copies of jack artist being sold online, at 250 and up.

I know what u mean about dudes hoarding albums tho.

same shit happened wit big lurch album...could only find 1 copy going at about 50 bux once a week, but all from the same seller. shit is like real estate.

Someone is doing that right now with the unknown 19916 tape. The same seller has sold 5 copies in last few months...and prior i went 6 months without even seeing it.

Capitalism tho. I aint mad. It just sucks for the collector who just wants a few cool albums

I bought jackas jack artist on "collectors edition" blue vinyl for 15 which I believe on top of which was the original pressing for cheap. I had it before that but I got it on vinyl for the collectors reasoning. Also have tear gas original..

but I think the one thing that could be worth something I had was the jacka street album:

And let me share a quick story about that album, which may not be worth Anything but became special in my world for a reason.

I gave that album to my dad and it was the first modern rap album my dad liked. He's a Vietnam vet and is the type of person that considered ice cube a straight up pussy for saying "today I didn't have to use my AK/today was a good day" prolly cuZ he was in Vietnam really toting an AK everyday and hated that rappers were being fake. Shit, this nigga even hated "manifest" by gangstarr because he looked at they name as GANGSTER. I was pissed.

Anyways, my dad would fuck w shit like big daddy Kane, but liked very very few "gangster rap" (read: west coast street albums) after the 90s hit but as time passed and music evolved a little, I took a chance and let him have my "Jacka: The street album" original, which was around the time he was hyped that he joined the new world and his new automobile had a CD player in it.

I knew It was possible he would hate that album and possibly break the shit and call it a bunch of trash. Much less that jacka was Muslim (which meant my dads Vietnam vet status was going to immediately hate, this nigga to tha day thinks because my girl is Asian that she's like some subservient Vietnamese servant that does everything I say with no response and does nothing but cleans the house all day when she isn't cooking or fanning me with a giant chinese hand-fan, no lie. He literally thinks my girl knows barely no English, and she was born in San Ramon.)

Anyways to make a long story shorter, although I really had to explain to you guys my dads background , his attitude, and why/how much it was a 99% chance he was going to HATE the jacka street album.. He called me 2 days later excited.

He said that the jacka street album was the best "recent" rap album he had EVER heard, and exclaimed "this album is like a movie!" He literally didn't take the album out of his car CD player for years.

That happening was some amazing shit. Showed how great jacka was an an artist to me. Me giving him that album was a reeeeal shot in the dark.

Jacka with time ended up being one of my favorite artists, but even more so, because he was the ONLY rapper to make my dad lose his mind over how good the album was.

I remember finding an og jacka self titled album at rasputins in the used section for $10 around 05-06. That's still my favorite 1, had a lil cartoon looking thug on the disc. Jacka still the dopest I'll take his whole catalogue over anyone else's.

Depends on which albums, something like Jack of all trades was Frisco street show & they will def keep pressing more copies as long as it sells. That's why it's the only full Jacka album on vinyl. The jack artist was only on artist records so most likely just Jacka & his management team handled that & only did one or a few pressings before they moved on to the next thing. Jacka of the mob figaz is on a defunct label so prolly not seeing anymore of that either. The collabs might be more common idk how those other rappers roll, lot of factors but the main one is def the fact he died resellers took advantage with no shame.

I had Mac mall sic wit tis demo tape when N like 92-93. I musta been 11-12. I had a neighbor who was a few years older than me and she gave me that. I think the tape just had pimp shit and sic wit tis as full songs and then a few samples of other songs. And a clean version of sic wit tis. I musta listened to that tape 10,000 times
