wait, is this still for the MW belt? since Cotto is a diva and its at a catchweight??
That's right.

But Canelo's last three fights have been at catchweights of 155, so it makes no difference.

I have no problem with it, so long as the winner fights the mandatory challenger after, whom of course is Gennady Golovkin. I don't think you can force a catch weight in a mandatory obligation.

I also hope Canelo wins mainly for this reason because the MEXICAN in him won't allow him to be a bitch and be stripped his title. Canelo has way too much PRIDE not to fight Golovkin. His track record of fighting Trout, Mayweather, Angulo, Lara, Kirkland and now Cotto prove he's down to fight the best just like the Golden one before him in Oscar.

I hope so. But what scares me the most about Cotto is that he has changed a lot since he went with Roach. His footwork and defense is the best in the game right now in my opinion. Plus, his power is overlooked since he's always been a more technical boxer as well. Cotto has the ability to embarrass Canelo worst than Floyd did.

Yes I did say his defense got better. His stance before was a legit head first, come straight forward attack. It was a stance that allowed Mayweather to expose Cotto during the fight and Floyd was landing uppercuts at will. Now, Cotto stands back a lil bit and waits for the punch to catch them. Even though he fought "shot out" fighters, those guys are still taller with a longer reach. Martinez lives and dies by his jab because of that and he still couldn't connect with Cotto in the middle of the ring. The same way we've said Floyd's fight game has changed doesn't mean he didn't make adjustments. Cotto has done the same. Don't trip I still want Canelo to win and I think he will, but this fight is gonna be that great of a challenge because of Cotto's defense.

True, but I agree with myself both times. Just look at this highlight and watch Floyd throw these uppercuts. Cotto made Floyd fight and in return Cotto made it seem like Floyd got a power punch.

All because his shoulders and head were squared up vs Floyd.

Ok, but what does this have to do with u saying Cotto has the best defense in the game?

I don't think you can force a catch weight in a mandatory obligation.
Depends on how it's made. If the fight is made outside of a forced purse bid then you can try to dictate whatever terms you want and the commissions won't care as long as it's get done.

I don't think you can dictate weight terms on a purse bid, but this won't be a fight that goes to a purse bid if it gets made. Way too many negotiations that are going to have to take place, a purse bid would put everything in the hands of the winning promoter.

Well right, that's what I mean. Cotto/Canelo can ask for a catch weight but they can fuck off if it comes down to it. Although that could mean significantly less money for Golovkin if it goes to a purse split since Cotto/Canelo would be the champion and ggg challenger
