UFC light heavyweight champion Jon "Bones" Jones has been booked into jail on Monday night after Albuquerque police issued an arrest warrant for his involvement in a hit-and-run accident that occurred on Sunday.

Witnesses told police that Jones ran from the crash that hospitalized a pregnant woman after grabbing a handful of cash from the car he was in.

Police say the crash happened when the driver of a rented SUV ran a red light. The official police report on the incident identifies Jones as the suspect who fled the scene of the accident on foot. MMA paperwork belonging to Jones was found inside the vehicle, along with an Enterprise rental car agreement in Jones' name.

The report states Jones caused the collision, proceeded to leave the scene, hop a fence and run away. The report also states that marijuana and paraphernalia was found in the car.

Full police report

The pregnant woman Jones allegedly hit in the three-car crash broke her arm, so Jones is facing a felony charge.

The UFC released an official statement late Sunday stating they are aware that Jones was wanted for questioning in a "motor vehicle accident," but haven't offered further comment on the situation.

You think he should be suspended for something not related to the sport? Wowzers
:siccness:

smh
yaw crazy for this one
So he should just hold up the division while he goes through the court process of being charged with a felony? UFC should just not have a Light Heavyweight champion?

Pretty obvious dude has demons he needs to get cleared up. Crashing Bentleys while drunk, popping hot for cocaine during training camp for a title fight, and now a felony hit and run once again during training camp for a title fight. Dude has issues, his focus shouldn't be on the UFC or being a world champion. His focus should be cleaning himself up. Dude can always come back later. Pretty sure he ain't gonna have to climb the ladder back up to a title shot when he's ready to come back and all this shit isn't on his mind.

From a PR stand point for the organization, not acting will be terrible. How many shots does one guy get when they have a code of conduct policy? Jones knows about the code of conduct policy, he's already lost $25,000 because of it. He's a professional and a representative of major brands like the UFC and Reebok, what he does outside of fighting is just as important as what he does in the cage.

Rumble vs. Cormier or Bader for the belt should happen.

suspended and stripped of the title

Jon Jones stripped of title, Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony Johnson for belt headlines UFC 187

The best pound-for-pound fighter in the world is no longer a UFC champion.

The UFC stripped Jon Jones of his light heavyweight title Tuesday night in the wake of his arrest on felony hit-and-run charges this week, UFC president Dana White announced on FOX Sports 1. Anthony Johnson will remain in the main event of UFC 187 and meet Daniel Cormier with the title on the line.

"It's not fun, but you know what they say: the show goes on," White said.

Jones has been suspended from the UFC indefinitely.

"Obviously he has to focus on his legal matters right now," White said.

White, UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta and COO Lawrence Epstein were all in Albuquerque to meet with Jones and his attorney Vincent Ward on Tuesday.

Jones was arrested Monday night in Albuquerque on a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving death or personal injury. He had his felony first appearance in San Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court on Tuesday and was released on a bail continuance. Jones paid $2,500 on Monday night and freed after he was booked in the Metro Detention Center.

The judge did not put any travel restrictions on Jones on Tuesday in order to allow him to compete at UFC 187 in Las Vegas. But that won't matter now.

Jones was allegedly the driver in a three-car, hit-and-run crash Sunday morning in Albuquerque. The New York native allegedly ran a red light in a rented Buick SUV and crashed into a car driven by a pregnant woman, who suffered a fractured arm as a result of the collision. Jones then allegedly fled the scene on foot, but not before returning to the car and grabbing a handful of cash, according to witnesses.

Jones was identified at the scene by an off-duty police officer and UFC fan. Albuquerque police was unable to locate him until Monday afternoon when an arrest warrant was issued and the arrangement was made for Jones to turn himself in.

In the Buick, police found a marijuana pipe with marijuana inside of it. Jones does not currently face drug possession charges, according to the Albuquerque Police Department, but those could be revisited at a later date

http://www.mmafighting.com/2015/4/2...-jon-jones-contract-in-light-of-recent-arrest

Jon Jones' Reebok sponsorship is no more.

The apparel company announced on Wednesday that it had terminated Jones' contract effective immediately.

"In light of recent events, we have made the decision to terminate our contract with Jon Jones, effective immediately," the statement provided to MMAFighting.com read.

ESPN's Darren Rovell first reported the news, which comes less than 24 hours after the UFC stripped Jones of the light heavyweight title and suspended him indefinitely in light of his recent arrest.

Late last year, Reebok signed Jones to be one of the faces of its new mixed martial arts line and recently began airing a commercial starring the now-former UFC 205-pound king.
