You obviously can't be reasoned with if you flat out stated there is ZERO blame on Al Haymon, despite knowing he has over a 130 fighters signed to him and is more than capable of putting together quality fights. So there is literally no point discussing this further if you have such a closed mind regarding the topic at hand. Not going to waste my time arguing with someone like that. Hopefully he does something positive with his NBC SPORTS deal but his track record is not a good indicator. Time will tell.

What's your thoughts on this? Roc Nation already has David Itskowitch as the COO, who's "a respected boxing executive and promoter with nearly two decades of experience" under his belt. Seems to me Roc Nation is really building something here. Will be interesting to see what other moves they'll make and how competitive their cards are. Gary Shaw is a shitty promoter but the one thing he's good at is finding talent. If his role is something of that nature, a scout for young talent, etc, combined with Itskowitch and Roc Nation's deep pockets, they could make some big splashes very quickly.

RN's first card is airing tomorrow of Fox Sports. I hope they succeed to be honest, as long as they put on good fights I'm good. They should start trying to snatch up as many top prospects as they can.
Off subject, it looks like Haymon snatched up all Mike's fighters. Erickson Lubin is scheduled to fight on the Taylor/Mora undercard and Sammy Vazquez & Claudio Marrero are booked for a Showtime card in a separate bouts.

Magomed Abdusalamov, a title contender before he suffered a devastating brain injury in late 2013, is in stable condition in a Connecticut hospital with blood and bone infections that his wife said doctors describe as "life-threatening."
On Dec. 31 the former boxer from the Russian Republic of Dagestan was hospitalized for the fourth time in as many weeks, Bakanay Abdusalamova said, this time for sepsis and osteomyelitis, as doctors also attempt to treat recurring pressure ulcers in his lower back. Abdusalamov, 33, is bedridden and recently endured lung and urinary tract infections and surgery on a lesion.

Abdusalamova told "Outside the Lines" through an interpreter that on New Year's Day two years ago her husband ran around a hospital shedding tears of boundless joy in celebration of the birth that day of their youngest daughter, Patimat. "We were the happiest family in the world," Abdusalamova said.
Abdusalamov's struggles for survival began after he entered the ring at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 2, 2013, for what would be a bloody, HBO-televised bout with fellow undefeated heavyweight Mike Perez. Abdusalamov lost a 10-round decision and hours later underwent emergency surgery to remove a blood clot in his brain. He suffered strokes, was in a coma for weeks, spent 10 months in the hospital and left paralyzed on one side, unable to walk or to talk.
"Before this happened we were more than husband and wife, everything was perfect," Abdusalamova said as she fought off tears. "Now the children (Patimat and her two sisters, Shakhrizat, 8, and Saygibat, 5) always ask when he will be back to who he was and I hold out hope 'Mago' will at least be able to speak again and smile some more."
During the fight Abdusalamov suffered broken bones in his face and hand and a laceration above his eye that required suturing. His handlers said he was vomiting and unsteady as they tried to take him by taxi to an emergency room, after state athletic commission doctors neither summoned an on-site ambulance nor advised him to go to the hospital that night.
The New York State Inspector General announced within a week that it was starting an investigation. Fourteen months later, according to a spokesman, that probe is ongoing.
Abdusalamov's family sued the New York State Athletic Commission's five doctors, referee and inspector who handled the fight, as well as the Garden and K2 Promotions, the bout's lead promoter, alleging negligence and medical malpractice during and after the fight with Perez.
The Abdusalamov family's attorney, Paul Edelstein, told "Outside the Lines" he has not yet received Madison Square Garden surveillance footage, which could show signs of Abdusalamov's dangerous condition when he left the arena.
A February court date has been set on the Garden's motion to dismiss it as a defendant, Edelstein said.
In court papers filed in December he enumerated medical bills for Abdusalamov totaling $1.7 million through one year. And Edelstein said the developments of the past five weeks have been "a tremendous setback to his condition."
"Before last month," said Abdusalamova, "it seemed we were done with hospitals and focused on rehabilitation, but since he developed the infections he hasn't been alert or able to communicate and it's so agonizing that all of his progress stopped with these recent struggles."
As for her countless hours at the hospital with her three daughters and family friend Amin Suleymanov, she said, "It's hard to go through it emotionally when the doctors explain things and it's very frightening and shocking to think about what Mago is going through.
"But we always try to stay positive," the devout Muslim added. "We pray and hope for the best, as this is Mago, after all, and he is always a fighter."

Golovkin has been chasing all the big names in the 160 pound division since he first stormed on our scene in 2012. Murray was mentioned as an opponent for Golovkin last year but Murray’s Visa situation could not be worked out in terms of fighting in the United States. So Golovkin, the world traveler will take to the road to Monaco where he has fought before to take on Murray simple because his promoter wants him to fight all over the world, and because Murray can’t fight in the states.
Last year Golovkin fought in New York, Southern California, and Monaco and took on competition that was willing to step in the ring with him while he waited for the winner of Sergio Martinez and Miguel Cotto to be decided. Golovkin had been chasing Martinez for two years but never got the chance to fight him for the lineal middleweight championship and the WBC championship. Then Martinez was dethroned by Miguel Cotto last June.
While many people are skeptical Cotto will fight Golovkin even after Cotto nails down his big money fight with either Mayweather or Canelo this year. So Golovkin and his team made a move to fight the interim WBC champion and destroyed Marco Antonio Rubio last October to make him the mandatory for the WBC Title that Miguel Cotto owns.
Golovkin understands business and is ready for Miguel Cotto to do business with him in the ring.
“Of course I’m ready for everyone,” Golovkin told ThaBoxingVoice.com. “ I want to fight them. Right now he’s (Cotto) the WBC Champion and right now we have the interim WBC. So it gives me time, they’ll give me time. “
If Golovkin had one desired opponent in 2015, the choice is easy.
“First Miguel, because he’s the WBC Champion.”

Sanchez is specifically talking about Peter Quillin, Miguel Cotto and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. Sanchez believes that it’s high time that they agree to fight Golovkin, because their excuses for not fighting him don’t fly.
Cotto’s trainer Freddie Roach has said that Golovkin isn’t well-known enough and that he doesn’t bring anything to the table.
Qullin also recently said that Golovkin isn’t a big enough name right now for him to want to face him. Canelo hasn’t said anything about why he’s not fighting Golovkin, but it doesn’t matter. The fact that Canelo isn’t accepting Golovkin’s challenges to fight him suggests that Canelo isn’t eager to take the fight with him.
“I think he’s outshined them (Peter Quillin, Miguel Cotto and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez), Sanchez said to the media on Wednesday. “It’s up to you folks to shame them. Ask them why not. Ask Peter why not. I don’t know that the media’s shaming of Canelo, Cotto and Quillin will be enough to get them to fight Golovkin. I think they see it as a situation where they have too much to lose for them to want to face Golovkin.
If you think about it, those guys could wind up getting beaten up and knocked out by Golovkin. If that happens you can expect to see their popularity drop off dramatically.

Fam, I can be reasoned with but you aren't looking at this from a business perspective and what Haymon appears to be doing. Haymon is not just going up against HBO and SHO. With a stable of 130 fighters he is also competing with MMA organizations and is also competing against the WBA, WBC, IBF, etc. With 130 fighters you can create your own boxing brand and pretty much call the shots when it comes to EVERYTHING boxing related.

Yeah I'm curious to see how the card goes and what kind of atmosphere it will be. Lot's of stars going to be there obviously Jay Z, Rhiana and Fabulous, etc. with a DJ. The thought of it reminds me of those hip hop cards in the 90s the name of which escapes me at the moment, hopefully not as corny as those were haha.
With the Shaw move it seems Roc Nation quickly builds a solid infrastructure, decent stable of fighters which will continue to grow with like you say by signing prospects. I wounder if they try to do the same with some of the other smaller promotional companies out there and buy them out for lack of a better term. Yes that is exactly the problem you're admiring Haymon as a businessman, my question was if he's helping the sport (i e is he making good fights, is he making fights the fans want to see, is he helping the sport grow, is he increasing popularity, ratings, etc etc etc). My only concern is the health of the SPORT of boxing. I don't care that Fighter A can get x amount of dollars fighting a scrub.

As I mentioned, Hershman at HBO wanted quality, competitive fights. He didn't want to buy the showcase fights Haymon was offering and as a result Haymon took all his fighters to Showtime. That hurt the sport big time the past two years. Ratings have plummeted because people aren't interested in a consistently bad product.
Exactly, he's calling the shots for those 130 fighters and unfortunately for fans what he's giving us is showcase fights and subpar cards.
I wouldn't worry about it except for the fact this is what he's been doing for YEARS. This has always been his way of business. There is no reason to suddenly be optimistic that Haymon will out of the blue flip it and start making quality fights on a consistent basis because again, his track record for years and years now has been exactly the same.
Long term? Deontay Wilder was not able to sign a multi million dollar long term deal with Roc Nation because Haymon wouldn't allow it. Now you tell me, if Wilder gets KTFO next week was Haymon looking out for Wilder long term? Because if he signed that deal with Roc Nation, he could get KTFO his next five fights in a row against bums and he'd still be making millions regardless. It's a huge risk because no one knows if Wilder is hiding a glass chin or not since he's never been hit hard yet as a pro. If he loses, he can kiss those millions goodbye and for what, because Haymon didn't want him promoted by his enemy in Jay Z? Yeah good lookin out. Pretty much the same goes for Quillin but to a lesser extent. He took a lot of criticism for dropping a world title and a career payday. He's much more proven than Wilder though so I'm sure he can win a title again against the likes of Jermain Taylor or Danny Jacob's.
Under Haymons contracts he has the final say. Again using Deontay Wilder as an example, a fighter under his contract cannot sign anything without his permission.
So let's recap why Al Haymon is slammed so much by boxing fans. He doesn't make quality fights. He gets big paydays for his clients fighting soft opponents (which would be fine if there were an infinite amount of money but of course there are yearly budgets which are drained by paying for these type of fights which means less money to be invested in actual good fights). He uses strong arm tactics and blackmail against the networks to buy his product (see HBO). He consistently cockblocks big fights fans want to see (its no coincidence just about every big fight that hasn't happened in the past five years included Haymon in some way). He violates the Ali act.
And yes, I'm well aware Haymon isn't boxings only problem, there are millions of problems. My question was if he was good for the sport or bad. Clearly my conclusion, along with many others, is that up to today, he's been bad for the sport. Like I said, maybe something will change in the future, maybe he makes good of the NBC SPORTS deal and it isn't just showcase fights, but I'm not going to be optimistic about it. I hope he does awesome for the sake of the sport.

It's a huge risk because no one knows if Wilder is hiding a glass chin or not since he's never been hit hard yet as a pro. If he loses, he can kiss those millions goodbye and for what, because Haymon didn't want him promoted by his enemy in Jay Z? Yeah good lookin out. Pretty much the same goes for Quillin but to a lesser extent. He took a lot of criticism for dropping a world title and a career payday. He's much more proven than Wilder though so I'm sure he can win a title again against the likes of Jermain Taylor or Danny Jacob's.
Under Haymons contracts he has the final say. Again using Deontay Wilder as an example, a fighter under his contract cannot sign anything without his permission.
So let's recap why Al Haymon is slammed so much by boxing fans. He doesn't make quality fights. He gets big paydays for his clients fighting soft opponents (which would be fine if there were an infinite amount of money but of course there are yearly budgets which are drained by paying for these type of fights which means less money to be invested in actual good fights). He uses strong arm tactics and blackmail against the networks to buy his product (see HBO). He consistently cockblocks big fights fans want to see (its no coincidence just about every big fight that hasn't happened in the past five years included Haymon in some way). He violates the Ali act.
And yes, I'm well aware Haymon isn't boxings only problem, there are millions of problems. My question was if he was good for the sport or bad. Clearly my conclusion, along with many others, is that up to today, he's been bad for the sport. Like I said, maybe something will change in the future, maybe he makes good of the NBC SPORTS deal and it isn't just showcase fights, but I'm not going to be optimistic about it. I hope he does awesome for the sake of the sport.

If not, then it’s no big deal to fight Froch because it’s a much smaller fight than Hopkins or Canelo in terms of U.S interest.

Ward officlally signed with Roc Nation which is great news as far as im concerned. I think hes gonna have a tune up fight though hopefully its not a total bum

Wow that's huge. Get him in the ring ASAP it's almost criminal his talent has been out of action for so long. After GGG cleans out 160 and knocks out Canelo and/or Cotto they should fight on PPV.
Boxer Andre Ward Signs With Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports

I was with Gary Shaw, now I am with Jay-Z and RocNation, a new promoter which has come out to make a name for itself. He can give the fans what they want to see. I believe they will keep me busy and I believe I can get six fights a year. I'm not like most fighters, I'm trying to leave a legacy as well. I understand that Gary Shaw is affiliated in the promotion with RocNation.
"I'm not like Peter 'Chicken'. Most people know him as Peter Quillin, I know him as Peter 'Chicken'. I'm going to fight, I wouldn't disrespect them like he does, it's disgraceful that he gave up a world title just to avoid an opponent like Matt Korobov. Champions should fight the best, gone are the days when that happens but I want to bring that back. Let the best fight the best. I'm a boxer but firstly I'm a boxing fan and a son of God. It was a disgraceful move for any athlete, to say, 'I'm not going to fight at the highest level, I'm going to sell out'. People should look at that as a black eye to the sport of boxing."

He hasn't earned the right to fight GGG imho. Steveson and Kovalev called out Ward over ten times each. Get a couple fights under your belt and then go fight one of them before trying to steal GGG's Thunder. BTW, according to GGG's guy GGG has outsold Ward in every venue where they both have competed.
