Cotto wants the day to be on PR Day Parade, and as much I would hate to say it but he's the champ and he has a point. Canelo has to pay his doues still even tho he fought Floyd. Fighting Floyd taught him not to fall for high demands, but that loss also forces Canelo to be a B sider big time. If he fought Lara for the title,then he would have had a say. Cotto is a fighter that knows his value now and maybe even more since we all know that Haymon in reality did hit up Cotto for a rematch.

Yeah Thurman even said himself before he wasn't that great of an amateur and was still learning the game. Still love the attitude from Spence. He's not ready yet though.

Mayweather might also be competing with Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Miguel Cotto on the Cinco De Mayo weekend date, May 2nd. With this said, Mayweather will most likely be looking for someone who can be enough of a sell to make Showtime happy, as well as make Canelo/Cotto the lesser draw. Of course, Manny Pacquiao would be the one to provide him this, not Amir Khan, so it makes sense for Mayweather to be focusing on making the Pacquiao fight happen instead.
This is probably a devastating blow for Khan, who has been extremely vocal about wanting the Mayweather fight for months. Oscar De La Hoya had been promoting the fight as if the winner will immediately get Pacquiao or Mayweather. But, as the two fighters seem to be materializing a fight with one another instead, Khan may be left watching on the sidelines. For him, he should focus on finding a worthy opponent to increase his popularity outside of his home country, United Kingdom.
Kell Brook has called out Khan, telling him his win over Alexander doesn’t allow him to skip ahead of the “Mayweather fight” line. With Brook being undefeated, he could be a great opportunity for Amir. Lara wants Golovkin, Mayweather and Cotto in 2015
By Dan Ambrose: After recently beating Ishe Smith and Austin Trout and being arguably robbed in his fight against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, WBA World junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara (20-2-2, 12 KOs) says he’s interested in fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr, Miguel Cotto and Gennady Golovkin in 2015.
Just which one of these three will say yes to a fight against the southpaw Lara is the big question. It’s quite possible that Lara scared away all three of them with his performance against Canelo.
Lara out-boxed Canelo for 12 rounds, and had the red-haired fighter hitting air with his punches all night long. Canelo landed only 30+ head blows during the fight. The judges gave Canelo the fight based on his body punching, and many of the body shots Canelo threw landed on the gloves of Lara.
Of the three big names that Lara wants to fight, Golovkin is the most likely of the three to say yes to a fight against Lara. However, it’s still a fight that probably won’t take place next year, because Lara showed interest in fighting Golovkin earlier this year, but there was no mutual interest in Golovkin’s side to take the fight. I don’t that will change with Lara fighting at junior middleweight. Golovkin is more interested in facing the winner of the Miguel Cotto vs. Canelo fight.
Mayweather isn’t going to move up to 154 to fight Lara because it’s a fight that would be potentially a difficult one for him. Lara doesn’t have a huge fan base, so Mayweather would have to be willing to take the fight for legacy purposes.
I don’t think Mayweather is going to do that given that he’s only got a couple of more fights left on his Showtime contract. He’s likely to face the guys that will give him the biggest paydays such as Manny Pacquiao and perhaps a fight against the winner of the Canelo-Cotto fight.
Lara will likely wind up fighting the likes of Joshua Clottey, Jack Culcay and Sergey Rabchenko in 2015. Lara could impress a lot of boxing fans if he were willing to face the Charlo twins, but that’s not going to happen because the twins won’t fight him. They spar with Lara, and they’re said to not be interested in facing him because of their friendship.

Canelo wants to fight on the Mexican holidays in May and September, and he sees it as a case of him wanting to take the dates due to him being Mexican. However, it might end up biting Canelo in the backside if he does try and compete with the popular Mayweather because it’ll mean that Canelo’s pay-per-view numbers for those months will likely wind up much smaller than they would be if he were to fight on another date.
The problem is Mayweather is the far bigger pay-per-view attraction than Canelo, and it means that if boxing fans have to pick between Mayweather and Canelo for their fights in May and September, most of the fans will opt to purchase Mayweather’s fights especially if he facing the likes of Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan.
“Everybody knows that Oscar is getting me May 2 and September,” Canelo said via RingTV.com. “Those are the Mexican holidays, and they belong to the Mexican fighters. Everybody knows those are the Mexican holidays and the traditional dates for the Mexican fighters.”
Anyone is free to fight on the Mexican holidays. I’m not sure that Canelo is aware of that. If Mayweather wants those dates, it doesn’t matter if he’s not Mexican. He can fight on them and he likely will.
Canelo could wind up hurting himself if he tries competing against Mayweather for both of the Mexican holiday fight dates next year, because Canelo doesn’t have the fan base in the United States to bring in nearly the same amount of pay-per-view buys as Mayweather.
We’ve seen that with Canelo bringing in a little over 300,000 PPV buys for his fights against Alfredo Angulo and Erislandy Lara. Canelo was the A-side in both of those fights, yet he couldn’t even break 500,000 buys.
The smartest thing for Canelo to do is to back off and let Mayweather have the dates that he wants next year, and then when Mayweather retires, Canelo can claim them for his own.

In talking to Joe Cortez of ESPN Deportes, Mayweather explained why he deserves what he deserves in a fight with Pacquiao.
“I said yes to Pacquiao because he was talking a lot of lies. Bob Arum is lying to the public. Last Friday he issued a challenge to Manny Pacquiao and Bob Arum and put the onus on the two to make the biggest fight in boxing. Yesterday at the WBC Convention in Las Vegas, he spoke more and more about May 2nd and his fight with Pacquiao.
In talking to Joe Cortez of ESPN Deportes, Mayweather explained why he deserves what he deserves in a fight with Pacquiao.
“I said yes to Pacquiao because he was talking a lot of lies. Bob Arum is lying to the public. “May 2nd isn’t a magical date for us,” Peñagarícano told the media at the WBC convention this past week. “There is no issue with the date or May 2nd for Team Cotto. It is for Canelo because he is Mexican and it’s a Mexican holiday. Miguel will fight on that date or he will fight the first week in June during the Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York, or another day, the date is no issue.”
Peñagarícano again confirmed that the fight is 50 percent done and that other options will be explored if a fight with Canelo isn’t finalized.
We’ll fight on May 2nd, before or after. As I said before, we’re 50 percent done, still things to be negotiated, most of them financially.”
Peñagarícano was asked if a fight with Mayweather and Pacquiao took away from the size of magnitude that Cotto-Canelo would be, Peñagarícano response was, “I don’t think that fight takes away from the importance of Cotto-Canelo. The general public is interested in both fights I feel just as equally. So that’s why we’re working extremely hard on making it happen.”

Yeah, it's a good year compared to Showtime's dismal numbers but overall numbers are way down in general. 1.39m viewers is the highest we got and this would have been considered average at best just two years ago. When Hopkins fought Pascal they did 1.8 million and that was either the highest or second highest fight of that particular year. So we can see how dramatically it's fallen. Some of that may be do to such a lackluster year (honestly, 2014 sucked major fucking ass besides a few fights here and there). Bottom line is the numbers are way down and they better make big fights in 2015 to get these ratings back up.
On a plus side it's really nice to see Crawford in the top 4. He has so much upside because he's young. Golovkin & Kovalev continue to prove that Eastern European/former Soviet State fighters can be big draws in the states.

According to Main Events and InterBox a deal has been set for Sergey "Krusher" Kovalev (26-0-1 23KOs) to face Jean Pascal (29-2-1 17KOs) on March 14, 2015 in Montreal or Quebec City Canada. But Pascal must get by Roberto Bolonti before this can take place. Kovalev had a mandatory challenger in newly signed Main Events fighter Nadjib Mohammedi, but the IBF granted Kovalev a special exception to postpone that fight. Most likely this fight will be televised in the United States on HBO.

I promised after his demolition of Bernard Hopkins that the next one would be for the money.
