SAN RAFAEL, Calif. —
A hip-hop musician from San Diego was being held Thursday in Marin County jail after he was accused of kidnapping a woman in Southern California and holding her captive in a Marin County home.
The Marin IJ reported Thursday that Charles Mitchell, known as Mitchy Slick, has been booked on suspicion of kidnapping, human trafficking, participating in a criminal street gang and other charges.
He surrendered Tuesday after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Bail was set at $1.5 million.
Marin County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Lt. Doug Pittman told the paper that Mitchell was booked 11 days after deputies executed a search warrant in the tony enclave of Sleepy Hollow. The woman who had allegedly been abducted from Southern California was freed by deputies.
Mitchell was not at the residence at the time of search and had avoided arrest.
Pittman did not release the name of the woman or how long she had been held against her will.
According to the paper, Pittman also did not say how sheriff's investigators became aware of the alleged kidnapping.
Mitchell is a native of the Lincoln Park area of San Diego. The paper reports that he is one of about three dozen alleged members of the "Lincoln Park Bloods" gang who are named in a permanent injunction by the San Diego City Attorney's Office.
