Asus > hp > acer > toshiba from my experiences. I havent had a toshiba in a while but mine the battery went fast as hell and was shit, maybe theyre better now.
That's the shitty thing with laptops, it all comes down to personal experience.

I had a Toshiba from 2008 to 2013, great computer. I took it all over the world with me and abused the hell out of it too lol it went with me to Israel, Iraq, all over Europe. Worked like a charm until finally the screen stopped working 5 and a half years after buying it.

I got a Samsung for like $350 on BestBuy two years back and it still runs great and is good for my interwebing needs. I had the exact same one for almost 4 years prior, and was still going strong (think I paid $500 for it though at the time) until I knocked a full glass of water on it in a drunken stupor. That sucked. But yeah laptops man how do they work?

Looking around on google just real quick and it is pretty definitive that people prefer Toshiba and ASUS. People complain about bloatware and cheap parts with Dell, Acer and HP.

ASUS apparently makes all their parts themselves inhouse which is a good thing. And I know they had made the most powerful android tablet before, probably why net nerds love em.

One kick ass thing about a lot of ASUS laptops is they come with accidental warranty for free for first year. So if you drop it or spill shit on it you should be good.

But definitely look into toshiba as well cuz im only reading good things.

You just gotta make sure to take care of it. I notice people that usually end up talking shit about cheap laptops are the same people that throw it in a backpack everywhere they go and throw their backpack all over the place banging the laptop around and wonder why their hard drive won't spin anymore lol

Nice. I just bought it. Yeah I usually but high end electronics, especially speakers and amps and such that don't really get outdated. But for my usage I'm down to just but a new laptop every few years.

all 4 make decent cheap laptops

Asus is becoming a leader in gaming laptops right now. I can personally vouch for both Toshiba and HP, have owned both and both were great.

I've only known people with Acer though so I can't personally vouch, never heard anything bad though.

My daughter's mom got this Toshiba for $250 a couple months back and it's a great laptop. Looks like it's only $230 right now.
