computer shop in tucson $65 just to look at the hdd as well as $35 - $45 a hour to rescue the files. it might take 2 hours to get the files but they charge u for like 4 hours and shit. with the shops u cant even be assured that they aint snoopin around the hdd lookin at porn that might be stored on there

avg + spybot + spyware blaster is all i need to get rid of spyware and block viruses. uninstalled mwb because i didnt like it

Chrome stays eating up my memory. I let windows manage the page files, everything is set to devote ram to programs and not background resources and things are set up for performance and not graphics. I thought malwarebytes was the culprit but the true culprit is chrome. I only have two extensions, ad block and google docs, yet I saw the amount being used by chrome in windows task manager (multiple instances at over 400,000) and the saw multiple instances of it in chrome's task manager. That's ok, because I guess it gives an instance of each tab or what not, but if I am on a web page there should be no reason that it's getting up to a gig of ram or two as far as what is being used.

Did all the scans (virus, root kits, malware, etc) and can't find the issue. Is this a memory leak? If so, can I fix it by removing chrome and then reinstalling it?

XP SP3, 2 GIGS OF RAM, 2.6GHZ AMD.

in the address bar of your chrome browser, after which you’ll be re-directed to an options page of which the first tab will have the default option enabled. Change it to 512 MB, and re-launch chrome.
I just did that and will test it out by doing a lot of surfing or just opening tabs or pages with a lot of content.

I will keep you posted.

That helped but some websites are still eating up a ton of memory. One such website is IGN. I saw it climb to 1.2 gig. There is a shitload of content and flash shit on IGN, but should I be hitting 1.2 gig with just one tab? With siccness, outlook and MSN up I am barely at 300mb.

is there anything like plugin containers in chrome that just eat up memory. u shouldnt have one site eating 1.2 gb of ram. its probably something in the google chrome code that allows for memory leakage. i think its because chrome come with java and flash automatically switched on. dunno if theres a way to disable them. just to be sure uninstall chrome

So how does one save a video send through a private chat on facebook?
When I play it, I get just a flash screen of the video.

Right click on it and I get the settings for flash the address bar doesn't change either and when I click 'save as' on the video while still in the chat it only downloads a .html file.

I am a bit lost on this one.
