run cotto run!!!!!! Usually the WBC never has mandatory for unified belt helders, part of the reason why "the best don't fight the best", but here the WBC has taken the position to order a mandatory unification bout! Gotta give props to the WBC when props is due...

World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman has confirmed that*Marco Antonio Rubio's WBC interim-middleweight title will be at stake when he*faces on WBA/IBO champion Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27KOs) on October 18th at the*StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Viktor Postol Garcia Postol Garcia vs. Postol danny garcia By Dan Ambrose: The WBC has ordered a purse bid on September 12th for a fight between WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (29-0, 17 KOs) and his #1 WBC mandatory challenger Viktor Postol, according to RingTV.
Garcia and Postol are in the free negotiations period where they’re management can put together the fight without it going to purse bids. With Garcia, it’s unknown whether he’ll stay at 147 to defend his title against someone as difficult to fight as the 5’11” Postol.
Garcia has talked about wanting to move up to 147, but he’s also said that he wants to be able to drop back down for big fights. With the WBC ordering the Garcia-Postol fight, it might increase the likelihood that Garcia will vacate his WBC title rather than sticking around and facing someone that could potentially spoil his record like Postol.
Garcia is coming off of an easy fight against an unranked lightweight named Rod Salka from earlier this month. Garcia destroyed Salka in 2 rounds in a fight that was a mismatch the moment the contract was signed. Showtime agreed to televise the fight for some reason, and it was a poor fight in terms of entertaining due to the difference in size and talent between the two fighters.
Postol defeated Selcuk Aydin by an 11th round TKO last May. Postol threw nonstop punched during the fight until Aydin could no longer take the shots, and he went down for the count. Postol also has wins over Henry Lundy and DeMarcus Corley.
It’ll be very surprising if Garcia takes this fight against Postol, because it’s a tough fight and it’s the type of fight that could potentially shorten Garcia’s career. He said recently he wants to make the moves that will help prolong his career, which is why he chose to fight Salka. Postol is a world class opponent, and it won’t be easy for Garcia.
If Garcia does choose to vacate the title rather than fight Postol, then #2 WBC Lucas Matthysse and Postol will face each other for the vacant WBC title. But Garcia isn’t going to find things any either at 147. He’ll need to fight even better guys like Keith Thurman, Floyd Mayweather Jr, Manny Pacquiao, Devon Alexander, Kell Brook and Tim Bradley. Austin Trout wants Canelo or Lara rematch after Daniel Dawson fight

Trout Dawson Trout vs. Dawson Daniel Dawson austin trout By Dan Ambrose: Former WBA junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (26-2, 14 KOs) is hoping to get a win over Daniel Dawson (40-3-1, 26 KOs) in their fight on Friday night on ESPN, and using to get a much bigger fight against either Saul “Canelo” Alvarez or Erislandy Lara so that he can avenge his defeats against the two fighters.
Trout suffered disappointing losses to both guys in 2013, and he believes he lost the fights to them because he wasn’t fighting his own fight. He was forcing the action them, and getting the worst of it.
In Trout’s defeat to Canelo last year in April, Trout kind of had no other choice but to turn into the aggressor because the fight had open scoring and the three judges had Canelo up by a wide margin after the first 4 rounds.
Canelo appeared to getting dominated in the first 4 rounds, but the judges were only watching his occasional big shots he’d land rather than Trout’s more numerous weaker punches. In Trout’s defeat to Lara, he was simply out of his league and didn’t have the tools to make it competitive.
“This is a fight where I’m going to show the boxing world I’m back and I really haven’t gone anywhere,” Trout said to ESPN. “I had a bad year and that’s that. The best of Austin Trout hasn’t been seen, and I feel like I’m tapping into that now. We know he’s strong. He’s got a good knockout ratio. I’m very rematch-minded.”
Trout is no better or worse than he was before his losses to Canelo and Lara. Trout doesn’t have the punching power or the chin to stand in the pocket and beat the top guys. If the judges are going to focus mainly on his opponents landing the bigger shots, then it’s going to make it tough for Trout to ever beat guys like Lara and Canelo no matter how good he looks.
“I’d love to get Canelo or Lara in the next fight,” Trout said. “We know it’s a business and we also know you work your way back, and that’s what I plan on doing. The only way that Canelo will ever fight Trout again is if he puts together a good winning streak and beats some top names. Beating Daniel Dawson isn’t a big enough win for Trout to get a rematch against Canelo. It’s going to take wins over the likes of Lara, Vanes Martirosyan, James Kirkland and Demetrius Andrade for Trout to get consideration from Canelo for a rematch.

ESPN picked up Soliman Vs. Taylor. I'm loving this deal with ESPN picking up cards outside of the FNF season and airing them on Wednesday during football season.
Middleweight titlist Sam Soliman's defense against former undisputed champion Jermain Taylor will be on ESPN2.
The network and Warriors Boxing promoter Leon Margules, who is co-promoting the card with Lou DiBella, told ESPN.com that the deal is done for the network to air the fight, which was finalized last week, on Oct. 8 (9 p.m. ET) as a Wednesday night boxing special.
The site has not yet been determined, but Margules said he is talking to various venues about hosting it. One week earlier, ESPN2 will also air a Wednesday night boxing special from Santa Monica, California, headlined by the middleweight title eliminator between Curtis Stevens and Hassan N'Dam.
The winner of the fight will be the mandatory challenger for the Soliman-Taylor winner. Taylor (32-4-1, 20 KOs), 36, of Little Rock, Arkansas, was a 2000 Olympic bronze medalist and was middleweight champion from 2005 to 2007. While he has won four fights in a row, he was out of action for 26 months after suffering a small brain bleed in a 12th-round knockout loss to Arthur Abraham in a 2009 super middleweight fight.
After getting tested by some of the world's top neurologists and being given a clean bill of health, Taylor was licensed in Nevada, one of the stiffest jurisdictions in which to get a license.
The 40-year-old Soliman (44-11, 18 KOs) will be making his first title defense since outpointing Felix Sturm on Sturm's turf in Germany to claim the belt by unanimous decision in May in a rematch of their February 2013 title eliminator. Soliman won that fight by unanimous decision, but the result was changed to a no contest because Soliman failed his post-fight drug test.
Soliman was pursued for a unification fight by Gennady Golovkin but elected to take a better deal to face Taylor, a much more winnable fight.

I'd love to know how much Solimon is getting paid....$50,000? $75,000 tops? He would have got half a million easy against GGG on HBO.
He probably doesn't realize he's being used for Al Haymon's plan. Which obviously Haymon is hoping Taylor will win and take his belt, and then put Taylor up against Quillin or Danny Jacobs.

You're acting like a fighter's purse comes strictly off what the station pays for a fight. I don't see what reason GGG's promoter would have to lie about what the offer was and I could definitely see Haymon trying to buy a title fight for Taylor knowing if he wins there's bigger money down the road. It's a gamble basically.
