Chongqing Rail Transit is the public metro system of Chongqing, China, operated by the Chongqing Rail Transit (Group) Limited Co., and began operations on 2004 November 6. Among its lines, the Line 2 monorail is the first urban metro in China’s western regions, as well as China’s first straddle-beam monorail line.
Chongqing is located to the southeast of the Sichuan basin, with the Daba, Wushan, Wuling, and Dalou Mountains to its north, east and south. Most of the terrain is composed of hills and mountains, with lots of its area being slopes, resulting in the city being known as a “mountain city”. As a result, the light rail must pass through the building.
