^ i kinda agree with you but at the same time like, when i was goin to shops my favorite shit was always top shelf cuz it was top shelf for a reason. but that depends on whether or not the store u fuck with knows what they talkin about. what i mean is, you know if you like sativa, you know if you like indicas..you know if you like concentrates or edibles.
im the type (i dont smoke daily anymore how i used to) that i want the highest THC possible, and i want indica dominants, mostly OG's. thats gonna be top shelf. whats important IMO is how they cure the shit after how they grow it, because a good cure brings out the good smell and taste and gives you that good inbetween with dry and fresh. also important is the flush time with the weed. better flushed the cleaner the taste and the less BS left in your weed when burning. you know if you burn a blunt and the ashes are complete white its flushed hella good. you get what you pay for man and sometimes them top shelf joints just had more TLC involved.
i mean i agree, go ahead and try what you want. you may like it. if you get a feeling about a certain type of weed looking and smelling it go for it. but dont let names fool you. alot of these shops will take the top of a plant, name it something then take the middle/bottom of the same plant an name it something else. same with the 'platinum' phase. you just got the colas.
but see in SD, thats a city full of weed connoisseurs and real smokers so most of them know what they talking about. if you do a little research of what it was crossed with, might be your favorite weed mixed with your other favorite. my favorite weed used to be trainwreck back in the day, but as the med shops got bigger they started using trainwreck as a high yielder, just to get it out there quick and the quality decreased. so i stopped liking it. my favorite now is SFV OG. previous favorites were planetaries (saturn OG, earth, mercury OG, pluto OG, list goes on) they had a strain called "weezy" made specifically for lil wayne when he came down to SD, made by the panetary OG grower and that shit was perfect, i mean perfect, cured right clipped perfect best it could be. OG will never be played out because theres so many different melting pots with OG that you can find your favorite.
now alot of the shit berner and wiz are mentioning are SLAP. you cant even find that shit everywhere. sherbert, nuwave, y, shit like that.....worth seeking out and trying. nothing wrong with getting some shit that isnt all big in name, but with the internet how it is, you got alot of reviews and people put it out there. you just gotta know what you like and go after that.
i typically never buy alot of one type of weed. i like my variety, so when im done with my 8th or what not ill try something new. but kush will never play out to me. i know how it treats me, so i can expect that every time.
one of the best strains ive tried that got no big name for it was "Gas" i had it at garden of eden. best strain i ever had that i never heard of. i wish i could find that shit again. not just saying that cuz its my name, that shit was suuuper fire.
i miss cherry pie. shit hella fell off after girl scout cookies, but cherry pie was just as good IMO they just really worked on GSC and made it top notch, when they shoulda did that to pie. that woulda been a really really good strain if growers woulda worked it a little more. heard it wasnt the highest yileder but whatever.
shit most of the weed i get has a name for it that is tried tested and true. if your dealer is real with it and he throws out a name, and u been smoking for some times, you know what to expect. thats the good thing.
cant say ive ever gone for some shit that had less THC. shit for a while i only smoked concentrates because i wanted to smoke less to get that full fledged high. you know if i wanted to smoke something with less THC id buy a bunch of purple shake or something, or just eat half an edible. THC is the game as far as im concerned.
now if its just like a 4 percent difference i may choose something different based on its smell or cross of strain. sometimes i like a little sativa in my shit as a pickup. but mostly SD.
ive gone to SD with pounds of different strains before and every single person i talked to just wanted OG. didnt matter that the other strains were legendary and shit, all they want is that 'loud' smell it through 2 bags put them on the couch lookin retarded then nap for 6 hours shit. sold all the fuckin OG then had to get off small eigths or so of the champagne and cat piss to let people try out.
the weed games like that tho people follow trends, they hear about some shit and want it. hear girl scouts, they want girl scouts. they dont want lambsbread even if you tell them it was bob marleys favorite shit. lol
i typically stick to my kush. i guess i know what i like and want. ill try other shit but it dont do me like my kushington. im with all types of weed ill try any strain but kush is just some cali shit in my eyes. like haze is in NY.
but alot of people are using pens now so the wax is becoming a newer thang.
