Obviously, if a producer only has 5 dope beats and another has 55 of the same quality, the 2nd would be the better producer. But I was thinking today if you compared the 5 best beats of certain producers, there would be quite a few that could contend with the best producers in hip hop of all time.

I've always thought Daz was an incredible producer and has produced some of the best beats ever created, but I think just about everyone would agree that Dr. Dre is better overall.

Putting their best 5 beats side by side though, it's pretty close. What's y'alls 5 favorite beats by these 2 or 5 beats from your favorite producers?

I'd have to go through thousands of beats...that's difficult.

There are some producers that are not all that, but their top 5 beats can compete with Dre's shit...

Overall I'd probably put DJ Quik up there.
believe me, as I thought of this on the way home I kept thinking of more and more and more producers. Not necessarily producers I even like, but their top 5 beats are great and there's probably no denying that.

Off top I thought of

Dr. Dre
Daz
DJ Quik
DJ Premier
Pete Rock
9th Wonder
Kanye West
J. Dilla
Cold 187um (not sure if I can come up with 5 for him though)

There are other producers who I really like overall, but I don't think their top 5 could mess with this group I just named like Mannie Fresh, Lil Jon, Sean "Solo" Jamison, JT The Bigga Figga, Sean T

Stoupe Enemy of Mankind and Snowgoons for sure, they have the heaviest and most complete beats to me. Every joint is perfection and it feels like each one tells a story.

I forgot about Battlecat and Fredwreck

KayGee from Naughty by Nature
Jermaine Dupri (again, might not have 5 but has AT LEAST 3 crazy dope beats)

i dug out Funkdoobiest' first cd after decades of not listening to it, i gotta say DJ Muggs is a dope beatmaker and pretty underrated, his Soul Assasins shit is dope. Also gotta go with the Shocklee bros The Bombsquad, Fear Of A Black Planet and Amerikkkas Most Wanted had some crazy production on them, especially since they were Eastcoast producing for a Westcoast "gangster" rapper that shit was flawless
