When I was at the graduation, and they were reading off each persons area of study. Kinda struck me as funny like 9/10 people "Business Administration BS" focus "Marketing, or Human Resources". Because if the world needs one thing, its more middle managers.
Its the same shit like when I was younger, the only advice we ever got about what to do for school was "Computers". Nothing as specific as engineering, or programming, or anything, just "Computers", lol. God forbid you try and do something you like or makes you happy, shit if you do that you wont be rich, and my rich I mean middle-class with moderate debt, but lots of nice shiny things you don't really want.

point taken.

We live in a different time and age now days. Bachelor degrees really don't get you far. My brother got is BS in marketing, and basically doing secretary work.

I think in life if you can get a living wage, and support a family with doing something you enjoy that all that matters - the rat race to upper-middle class is stupid.

Chasing the dream leads to rough patches that the average person can't handle a lot of the times, sometimes it's easier for people just to get that cubicle job that pays decent.

I started chasing my dream 6 months ago and am sitting here with $25 to my name and gotta pause to go grind some bullshit work for awhile to re-start chasing the dream.

A lot of people don't got the drive to do what makes them happy.

I want my kids educated. I don't care if that education is for a "trade" I just want them to get skills to be a productive worker and human. They need to learn school and degree you choose is an investment - and there are bad and good investments in life.

Theater degree = maybe bad investment.
Engineering = maybe good investment.

I have changed my minds on trades through the years,I think it is smart as hell for a kid straight out of high school to try to get a journeyman level plumbing or electrician or whatever else that trains you.

Do what you love though...

InfamousICON @InfamousICON what do you think you get from film school, that you couldn't do on your own tweaking with video editing programs, and camera's on your own?

Sort of how I felt about sound engineering school programs, I never saw a point in paying for something you can learn from trial and error, and google resources.
