The reason that happens a lot is due to the company's cut the trailers before they finish the editing process of the film. They're trying to market months in advance to get people to watch it.
The thing is, that by the time they actually finish editing the film you find out some scenes ended up on the cutting room floor. And that is the reason there are scenes in trailers that aren't in the actual movie sometimes.
