Manti Te'o told Notre Dame officials he NEVER met his supposed girlfriend in person ... and only realized her death was a hoax last month ... after receiving a phone call from "Lenney's" cell phone.
Jack Swarbrick -- Director of Athletics at Notre Dame -- called an emergency media conference Wednesday night in the wake of the not-really-dead girlfriend scandal. Here are the highlights:
-- Manti is expected to address the media sometime tomorrow (Thursday).
-- Manti called Notre Dame officials on Dec. 26 ... and alerted them to the hoax
-- According to Swarbrick, Manti realized Lennay Kekua wasn't dead when he got a phone call from her cell phone at an ESPN award show in December ... months after her supposed death.
-- Manti claims the woman who called from "Lennay's" phone was the same person who he had spoken with during his relationship with Lennay.
-- Manti says the woman informed him that Lennay was not dead ... because she was not real.
-- Swarbrick says Manti met with a media team, who had planned to release the story to the media next week ... but they were scooped by Deadspin.
-- Manti told ND officials he had gone to Hawaii to meet Lennay in person on several occasions, but she never showed up.
-- ND believes the Manti was targeted because he's too nice of a guy ... and the perps took pleasure in humiliating him.
Swarbrick also said, "This was a very elaborate, very sophisticated hoax perpetrated for reasons we cant fully understand but had a certain cruelty at its core."
Swarbrick says investigators believe there are numerous people involved in the hoax.

1- Manti has stated he has "MET" the girl himself. Supposeble he met her after ND beat USC (or Standford I think). He stated that to the media.
2 - You have got to be really fucking stupid to be fooled by a hoax for 2 fucking years!!!
3 - I think the Samoan is gay. And he made this whole thing up with his faggot looking buddy to cover up that fact.
4 - Draft stock go down the hole.......
5 - I can't wait when the apparent "hoaxer" comes out and starts talking. I am sure he will say Manti knew about it and it was his idea.....

Reagan Maui’a has some type of involvement in the bizarre hoax surrounding the fake girlfriend of former Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o. Maui’a made that clear when he claimed to have met Lennay Kekua, a person who does not exist.
But Maui’a wants everyone to know that Steelers safety Troy Polamalu had nothing to do with the hoax. And Polamalu wants everyone to know that, too.
Maui’a, a fullback who has bounced around the NFL for six seasons, most recently with the Cardinals, took to Twitter on Thursday morning and wrote that Polamalu never met the person who was posing as “Lennay Kekua,” and that Polamalu had nothing to do with the hoax. Maui’a said Polamalu is “being unfairly dragged into this.”
Polamalu re-tweeted that tweet so that his 500,000-plus Twitter followers would see it, so Polamalu was obviously concerned about people thinking he might have some involvement in this bizarre story.
Maui’a also told reporters that if they were planning to call him for a story about the case they shouldn’t bother because he’s done talking about it. For the rest of us, however, this is a bizarre story that is not going away.

well alot of their parents want the males to be with traditional samoan females, and most in the states dont follow the traditional way, they all have family in samoa, and have elders trying to hook them up too. My cousin was with some girl in samoa, who he never got on webcam or nothing wiht, just chatted, and talked on the phone occasionally. He was with her for over a year, 'dating" lol. and its not irregular for things to happen like this.
