There is indeed absolutely no reason to have cars that fast on the road. Not only nobody needs that kind of speed (which is illegal pretty much everywhere anyway), but they waste a lot of fuel, etc.
But that's not the reason why your analogies don't work - they don't work because they're not valid in general.
A car serves a purpose - get people from A to B. Same with planes. Both can be used as a a weapon, but that's not their main purpose.
Guns, on the other hand, have only one purpose - kill things, i.e. there is absolutely no reason to have them around. Very different situation
Riddle me this, how did the assault weapons ban from 94-04 work in terms of people's ability to get their hands on assault weapons?
And to say guns serve no purpose is asinine. U hunt?
We live in a violent world no doubt. People have been killing, robbing, and raping since the beginning of time, thus defending yourself n ur family can become necessary.
Guns r here to stay, can we at least agree on that?
Assuming you agree, I'd say that there are much more effective ways that we can combat school shootings. Do u know how long it's been since a child has died in a school fire? Over 50 years. Do u know why? Because there are extreme precautions taken in every school in America to avoid such a tragedy. Sprinklers n every class room, fire retardant building materials, lighted exit signs, fire drills, ect...
Like it or not schools have become a popular target for psychopaths so IMO we should take measures to combat THAT. There's a lot we could do such as armed guards, shooting drill practice, doors lockable from the inside, ect ect.
My point is I do not believe stricter gun control is the answer. I think we need to change, but not gun laws. Same as 9/11. Now there's a pistol n the cockpit of every plane to put a quick stop to fuckery.
