the problem with trout is he can be pretty inactive at times so cotto will definately need to take advantage of those moments. Still as a betting man, not touching this fight. Trout hasn't really fought anyone that great, but he does have skills, size, speed & power and Cotto really isn't a true junior middleweight. Tough to call it.
Cotto Denies $13 Million/Pacquiao Rumor, Blames Weight

Former three division world champion Miguel Cotto (37-3, 30KOs) denies that he was offered and/or turned down a guarantee of $13 million dollars to fight Manny Pacquiao in a rematch on December 8th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Top Rank's CEO, Bob Arum, had recently told reporters in Las Vegas that he was stunned when Cotto turned down such a high amount of money in favor of taking a fight with unbeaten 154-pound champion Austin Trout on December 1. Pacquiao would then finalize a fourth fight with Juan Manuel Marquez.
Cotto told BoxingScene.com that Pacquiao's camp tried to gain an advantage by making him go down to 150-pounds. He says the weight demand was the main reason for the fight falling apart.
"That's not true. That's not true. The main reason of the Pacquiao conversation is that he wants me to go down to 150 - the same as in 2009 when they made me go down to 145 - [so] they can take advantage of that. That was the real reason [for refusing the rematch]. [Back in 2009] the inexperience made me do it, but I'm not going to do it again [fight Pacquiao at a catch-weight]," Cotto told BoxingScene.com.

Vitali’s manager wants him to retire rather than fight Haye if he wins office

Klitschko Haye Klitschko vs. Haye Bernd Boente vitali klitschko david haye By William Mackay: Bernd Boente, the manager for WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (45-2, 41 KO’s), prefers that Vitali retire rather than fight on if he wins a political position in the October elections in Ukraine. Vitali is the head of the UDAR party in Uraine and will be taking part in the parliamentary elects next month. He’s got a great chance of getting elected to the seat, and he’s already talked about possibly retiring if that happens.
Boente told the German news organization Sport Bild “If Vitali gets a role after the elections where he can make a difference, I suppose that would be the end of his career. As a friend and manager, that’s what I would advise. The fight for democracy and against corruption is more important than a fight against David Haye.”
Some boxing fans might believe that Boente is against Vitali fighting Haye even if Vitali chooses not to retire. Haye perhaps feels that way, because he’s been trying to land a fight against Vitali since last year and hasn’t had much luck in getting the big Ukrainian to take the fight with him despite the fact that it would make a lot more money than Vitali’s recent fights against Dereck Chisora and Manuel Charr.
Haye believes that Vitali is running scared of him, and sees Vitali running for parliament as a way for him to get out of facing him in the ring and possibly suffering an embarrassing loss.
Vitali did look bad in struggling to a 12 round decision win over Dereck Chisora earlier this year. Vitali looked stressed out out of breath from the pressure that Chisora put on him for that fight. Haye turned around and fought Chisora last July and easily beat him by a 5th round TKO. Haye was rarely hit by Chisora, and used his speed and power to give him a beating before stopping him. Vitali, 6’7″, didn’t have the speed to keep out of the way of Chisora. He was forced to move a lot and spear him with right hands after injuring his left early in the fight in the 2nd round. Fighting with only one hand, Vitali had a real tough time against someone who both Haye and the green Tyson Fury had effortlessly beaten.
Haye still has a chance of getting a fight with Vitali, but it might hinge on whether Vitali is elected to office next month or not. If he gets elected, then it’s probable that he’ll choose to retire rather than fighting on. The only thing that could change that is if Vitali gets the desire to get one last payday fight against Haye so that he can try and improve on the performance of his brother Wladimir Klitschko, who beat Haye by a wide 12 round decision last year in July. It’s a tough fight for Vitali, though, because Hayes hand speed and power make him a tough match-up. Vitali doesn’t have Wladimir’s great footwork, his jab, fast hands or power. Vitali can punch and use his height to his benefit, but he’s a lot slower than Haye and might struggle. against him.

Amir Khan vs. Diego Chaves a possibility for December 15th

Khan Chaves Diego Chaves amir khan By William Mackay: Unbeaten WBA interim welterweight champion Diego Chaves (22-0, 18 KO’s) says he’s been offered a fight against Amir Khan (26-3, 18 KO’s) and he’s currently considering the offer according to Ole.com. Chaves, 26, is coming off of a 2nd round knockout win over Jose Miranda last Saturday night in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Khan, 25, needs a fighter with an impressive record and some talent for HBO to approve his next fight on their network on December 15th. The last two names that were floated to HBO, Joan Guzman and Humberto Soto, weren’t good enough to get an agreement from them to televise the fight. Chaves isn’t any better known than Guzman and Soto. However, the difference is Chaves is ranked high at #1 by the World Boxing Association in the welterweight division, and he’s got respectable power.
For a Khan-Chaves fight to happen, Chaves would have to come down seven pounds to 140 to make the fight happen, because it’s doubtful that Khan would want to move up in weight after his 4th round TKO loss to WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia last month. Chaves wouldn’t lose anything if he Khan beat him at 140, because his title is at welterweight.
This would be a dangerous fight for Khan, because Chaves punches at least as hard as Danny Garcia, and he’s got an excellent uppercut that he likes to throw a lot. He’s like another Marcos Maidana type of fighter. He doesn’t seem to be as powerful as Maidana but he can punch nearly as good. Like Maidana, Chaves isn’t very fast of hand and that would give Khan a chance of beating him if he can jump up on him early. Khan would be better off trying to box this guy because he punches too hard for Khan to be taking risks right now.
Chaves’ best wins have comes against Jorge Daniel Miranda, Ismael El Massoudi and Omar Weis. Chaves hasn’t faced any legitimate top tier opposition before, so this would be a really tough fight if he were to take on Khan. Chaves really doesn’t need the Khan fight to get a nice payday, as he’s ranked #1 by the WBA, which means he’ll be getting a title shot against WBA champion Paulie Malignaggi in the near future as long as he keeps winning and waits for the shot.
Khan could be fighting with trainer Virgil Hunter for this fight. Hunter has been mentioned as the replacement trainer for Khan, who let his long-time trainer Freddie Roach go recently after Khan was beaten in his last two fights. Khan is hoping that a new trainer can bring him back to the success that he experienced early on with Roach when Khan was able to capture the IBF and WBA light welterweight titles.
If Khan takes on Chaves next, he’s going to need to be really focused on his defense the entire time because if Chaves is able to land one of his big shots, he’ll put Khan’s lights out quick. He’s not someone you would normally want to fight coming off of a knockout loss. Khan’s promoters at Golden Boy must be really confident of Khan’s talent if they choose Chaves as his next opponent.

Manny Pacquiao will take 45% share vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s 55%

Manny Pacquiao is now saying he will accept just 45% of the total purse in an anticipated super-fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. next year.
“Win or lose, I’ll take 45%,” Pacquiao told his publicist Friday in Mexico City. “Floyd can have top billing, he can be introduced in the ring first or last.
“He can wear my trunks. I don’t care. I just want to get him in the ring and make the fight.”
Pacquiao first said during an ESPN appearance Thursday that he was willing to take the 45% cut.
Pacquiao’s advisor, Michael Koncz, tried to clarify to The Times on Friday that the boxer was willing to accept a deal in which the winner would receive 55% and the loser gets 45%. That’s the same deal Koncz was extending to Mayweather in the spring.
Yet Pacquiao told publicist Fred Sternburg on Friday that he would take the flat 45% purse regardless of the outcome. Pacquiao has previously said he’d also submit to drug testing up to “the day of the fight.”“I don’t know what more he can do,” Sternburg said, as Pacquiao and his Dec. 8 opponent Juan Manuel Marquez appeared before an estimated crowd of 20,000 in Mexico to promote their fourth fight Dec. 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
In his Monday appearance in Beverly Hills, Pacquiao said he was more confident than ever that a Mayweather deal can be struck in 2013.
“I hope that the fight with Mayweather will be close, to give the fans the fight they want,” Pacquiao said.
When pressed why he felt so confident, Pacquiao just grinned and said, “It’s hard to say,” with Koncz then interrupting to say, “Secret.”
Part of it could be the Pacquiao camp’s hope that striking a co-promotion deal with Mayweather’s associate, rapper 50 Cent, could inspire goodwill that leads to finally finding agreement in a negotiation that has failed in the past over drug testing, purse splits and personal issues.
50 Cent has worked to establish a fight promotion company named after Mayweather’s own title for his entourage, the Money Team.
Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum has also praised 50 Cent’s business sense and personality, part of that being the wishful thinking that the rapper would assert more influence on Mayweather than Arum’s rival promoter, Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy, and longtime nemesis Al Haymon, Mayweather’s manager.
“You can speak to 50 in a reasonable way, and he talks back without the insults of calling me a nasty old man,” said Arum, a reference to Schaefer’s recent dig in The Times.
Schaefer has expressed confidence Mayweather will continue to retain Golden Boy for some promotional work. They’ve worked together on every fight since Mayweather defeated Oscar De La Hoya by split-decision in 2007 – the most lucrative fight in history.
Additionally, it’s unclear how tight the friendship of Mayweather and 50 Cent is at the moment. Attempts to reach Mayweather and his advisor Leonard Ellerbe have been unsuccessful.

I been saying this. I knew exactly why this fight didnt happen. Cotto would mop up Manny at 154 and they know it. When I saw that article about him turning down 13 mill, I knew they were trying to cause a diversion but it didnt work haha. Cotto had every right not to go down to 150 if he didn't want to, just as pac had every right not to go up to 154 if he didn't want to. Not sure why anyone is bitching worked out for the better. Pointless rematch. Cotto was comfortable fighting Margarito II at 150 pounds though, something to think about.

Pointless rematch? How? I think Cotto will beat Pac at 154. A pointless rematch is Manny/Marquez 4. Marquez won all 3 fights but yet doesnt have a win to show for it. Thats called pointless. Got Em!!

Showtime, which had televised Orlando Salido's two bouts against Juan Manuel Lopez and had a position on Salido's upcoming contest against Miguel Garcia on November 10th, has decided to take a pass on the fight. Therefore this bout will end up on HBO (where it will be paired up with the junior middleweight bout between Erislandy Lara and Vanes Martirosyan) from the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas.
It means that once again we'll see dueling dates between some very familiar faces on this date. Showtime will be broadcasting a fight card featuring a main event between WBC junior featherweight titlist Abner Mares and Anselmo Moreno from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. And HBO will have this doubleheader promoted by Top Rank.
The more things change, the more they stay the same...
- Speaking of Golden Boy and Top Rank, there is a lot of talk and conjecture about a possible bout between WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley and Robert Guerrero in what would be a very good looking bout between two accomplished prizefighters in their physical primes. But you wonder, can there be an actual thaw in this “Cold War'” that exists between the two companies? It was less than two weeks ago when Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer stated to Lance Pugmire of the L.A. Times that he would “never” work with Top Rank ever again (of course, “never” has a way of becoming short-lived in this racket if the money is right).
Also, if it's true that Showtime will be televising an Amir Khan fight on that same date (December 15th), would Golden Boy dare provide HBO and Top Rank the services of Guerrero?
All we are saying is give peace a chance...
- The proposed bout between WBO flyweight titlist Brian Viloria and WBA champion Hernan Marquez has moved around so much it should be sponsored by U-Haul. Originally, this fight was scheduled for September 29th then to November 10th and it looks like it's moving again, possibly to November 17th.
The latest problem is that with the Salido-Garcia fight being scheduled for November 10th, Zanfer (which promotes both “Siri” and “Tyson”) have requested the fight be pushed back yet again because TV Azteca will be televising the fight from Las Vegas and is unable to do two cards on the same night.
There is some talk that this fight may end up at the Commerce Casino near Los Angeles but it's not clear if the 17th of November is available at this venue.

Haye fears fighting in Klitschko’s home country could be dangerous ‘for a black man’.
‘I’ve never been to Ukraine but I have heard it’s very dangerous for a black man,’ said Haye.
‘There are crazy racists who have already sent me death threats.
‘So Germany would be the best and safest place for me to beat Vitali and get out of the stadium alive.’
If the fight does happen then Germany seems the logical place as Vitali and his younger brother Wladimir Klitschko have fought most of their career there.
