Just read somewhere that Hue believed that Mark Davis fired him. Idiot... as soon as his dad passes, he starts doing stupid shhh

Meta, you're my dog bro but we gotta keep it real man. It's not looking good because we can't even score points. You were at the game so you saw that BS up close. We're in trouble if all we can do is run or throw it to McFadden all day. There is clearly something wrong with this "West Coast Offense"

DHB had his best season and looked like a decent receiver in Hugh's offense.
THIS. The west coast offense and palmer dont mesh. Palmer is slow, and cant throw the ball when his feet arent set. palmers more of a pocket presence type of qb, and we need to play accordingly. after the first half palmer only threw to mcfadden and streater. bunch of bullshit.

offense didnt look too great in the preseason, looked the same all game last night. schemes gotta change if we want to win.

I think we have to give some credit to San Diego's defense. they knew Carson Palmer was killing them with the deep ball last year in SD, and didn't wanna let him do that again. the offense had to adjust to the Charger's defense, the defense was allowing shorter underneath passes, and wasn't allowing anything deep with the 3 deep zone they were playing

Carson even talked about it in an interview after the game. he said they weren't allowing anything deep, which is why he kept checking down

look at what the Niners did to Aaron Rodgers on Sunday. they didn't let him make hardly any big plays, and we all know he usually can do that

We'll be alright... After the 1st quarter it went downhill with the penalties at the worst possible times and the long snapper going down... While i wasn't too happy about the constant checking down i woulda been more pissed if palmer was turning it over left and right... Being down to our 3rd string wr's didn't help matters and we still only lost by 8..i think those encroachment penalties is what really changed the tone of the game... We was in their backfield quite a few times in that first quarter but once rivers wet to the hard count and forced kelly offsides it seemed like the intensity was turned way down and allowed rivers to get more comfortable in the pocket...

^Then that one game usually turns into 8 or 9. People say the same shhh about pre-season, "oh it's only pre-seaon, the play calling is vanilla" then when the game comes it's the same ol shhh just like last night.

its one game ill leave the adjustments and fixing problems to the people that get paid to do so. Very hard to take losing at home opening week. Adjustments will be made accordingly . I still have faith in the Raiders this year to go 9-7 /10-6.

This is exactly what i was talking about in my earlier post. First off to answer your question, yes i do know that special teams play is crucial. But maybe, just maybe there were other reasons the raiders lost other than just self imposed mistakes. The defense took away the vertical game, which is what the raiders like to do. Mcfadden ended up with only 32 yds rushing, a 2yd avg. so maybe the defense does deserve some credit. Also, the chargers went in with an undrafted free agent rookie at Left Tackle, the whole world knew they couldnt block. Norv actually had a good game plan and Rivers had time to throw.......
all in all both teams need lots of work. i was happy with going on the road with a makeshift o line and key injuries and pull out an ugly win.

Rasan,

I agree with you, but look at the big picture...Without probably our best reciever, no left tackle and no running back, on the road Monday night! To come away with a W is huge....with that said, we have lots of work to do

100 agree...sloppy win but ill take it...to a divison oppenant on the road...chargers got some work to do in the red zone but maybe mathews will open it up for phillip when he comes back for the home opener on sunday.oh yeah theyre gonna retire Jr's number that day too ill be there.wasted.lol

I'm not saying the Chargers don't deserve credit for the win. I'm just saying if you take away the 3 fuck ups from the long snapper you have a completely different game. we gave the Chargers the ball in FG range 3 times, and they got a FG each time. that's 9 free points we gave them. our defense did their job on all three of those occasions.they were playing pretty well, so who knows if yall would have driven down the field that many times had we not give you those short fields.

you guys were forced in those punting situations too ya know. sure, the fuck ups gave them shorter field to travel but still, they were going to get the ball back regardless.

of course they were, but if they got the ball back on their own 20 yard line instead of the Raiders 30 yard line they're not getting guaranteed points. those are also huge momentum swings too

Well I liked the Bears since a few seasons ago, I'll add the Cowboys to my favorite list of teams too since I like to use them on Madden.

Raiders

Cowboys

I'm a fan of the sport and NFL, not just my 1 favorite team.

Jason Cole@JasonColeYahoo ExpertNFL admits that mistake by replacement refs denied Raiders a final 'untimed play'
6 hours agoEmail

The NFL's controversial replacement referees made their biggest mistake on the final play of Week 1.

NFL vice president of officiating Carl Johnson confirmed that the Oakland Raiders should have been given an "untimed" play at the end of their 22-14 loss to the San Diego Chargers on Monday night.

It was a long evening for Darren McFadden and the Raiders. (US Presswire)The play came after the Chargers punted to end the game, downing the ball at the Oakland 5-yard line. However, because the Chargers touched the ball first, Oakland was entitled to a final play under league rules.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said in an email after he spoke to Johnson that: "Yes. If the Raiders elected to take it. The officials should have notified them that they could have one more play due to the 'first touching' violation."

[Related: Oakland's Travis Goethel gets an unfortunate 15 minutes of fame]

The Raiders would have been able to run one final play from their own 5-yard line, needing to go 95 yards and then make a two-point conversion to send the game to overtime. While improbable, the mistake is nonetheless significant.

The gaffe was by far the biggest of a weekend that featured several awkward moments for the replacement officials, but no mistakes that appeared to have a direct impact on the outcome of a game. During the Arizona Cardinals' 20-16 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, the replacement officials mistakenly granted Seattle a fourth timeout at the end of the game. Although Arizona ultimately won, the officials had to admit they did not know the league's rule on injury-caused timeouts in the final two minutes.

Likewise, the refs in the Denver Broncos' 31-19 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night mistakenly called for the two-minute warning with 1:58 remaining before Denver ran a point-after conversion play.

Other than those errors, the NFL replacement refs, who reportedly are now expected to work up to the first five weeks of the season, had a relatively quiet week. While there was criticism of many judgment calls, that is relatively typical of any week in an NFL season.

[Dan Wetzel: Ravens Lewis, Reed finally backed with explosive offense]

However, the mistake in the San Diego-Oakland game is far more significant, even if the Raiders were unlikely to convert. In the past, the NFL has required teams to go back on the field for a last play in circumstances where it was required. In 1999, the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins were forced to go back on the field to run a final play after the game had seemingly ended when the league determined that the clock should not have run out.

lol. pick a team and stick with them Tony
Lol, I picked the Raiders and will be sticking with them (even though I'm still pissed about the firing of Hue Jackson). But I'm not going to turn my back on the team and y'all (siccness raidernation homies)

The Bears and Cowboys are my NFC/Madden teams, so I might as well root for them in real life too.... at least that'll give me some winning teams to root for, lol

Carson would have thrown a 95 yard hail mary to DHB in the endzone, then McFadden would have ran in the 2 point conversion and Raiders would have won in OT

Thanks a lot refs!
