Let us reason together....What are your thoughts on this subject...We all know a gang member or know something about gangs....And if youve done any type of research, you know the history to now...Could there be a sliver of a chance that these gangs some how find a common ground in which to cease the on going wars between them?Is there any positivity left in these cold hearts to bring a radical change?

NO

and No, a few individuals may change their own lives but no way a whole change with an entire gang.

Gangs are human nature IMO. Some sort variance of a gang has been around throughout mans history. Tribes/Clans/Families etc, can all be considered a "gang" when they represent a common cause or ideal and actually assert themselves.

yeah, let the system really oppress them outright then they wouldn't have time to act a fool on somebody down the st. there goal would be in revolution.

It won't happen. If it ain't one thing, it's another. There will always be SOMEBODY who wants MORE (money, power, respect, etc. etc.). As long as people have that hunger, and as long as it works for folks, you'll never get rid of gangs.

All I know of is in LA, when the black panther party hit LA and So.cal in general it pulled in most if not all the black gangs into the panthers or US group and other revolutionary type groups. But they were out there fighting and shooting with the panthers so the aggressive energy was channeled. Same thing in NY with Hip Hop in Ny it took alot of gang members away from the scene and they channeled that aggressive energy in battling in the various forms of hip hop shit. One thing that you see in both examples though is charismatic leaders who were once gangsters (Afrika Bambatta in Bronx NY, and Bunchy Carter in South LA) it was times of intense change, and the activities they were going into to forsake gang life was similarly aggressive and battle filled. It can happen.

Probably yeah.
They MIGHT be unified to commit murder and violence against an even larger group they feel threatens them.
Kind of like when street gangs put past beefs behind them and focus on going after a larger gang.

Is there any positivity left in these cold hearts to bring a radical change?
Gangs in general changing for a positive path? No I don't think that would happen.
It's ignorance, and I don't think that's something worth channeling. Sure you would get SOME individuals who change, but not the majority of gang members. The majority don't want to live a legal lifestyle. Not to mention that their mentality is something that's ingrained in them and it's bad because it's a group think mentality.

Heres the thing with that..isnt there some type of technicalities to this myth? How can someone who puts"lets say10 years" in to the game and hasnt ever snitched out ,pulled any type of sexual crimes and has never joined a gang.Just basically an associate.Arent drop outs basically for some one who joined a prison gang and then wants out?And for someone to be no good, wouldnt they be rats, rapists, and pedophiles??How can somoene be banished just cuz they want better?Of course by abiding by all street laws?

Because the pen and the streets are connected. You may not have joined a prison gang, but you joined a gang, regardless.

Of course their are some exceptions, dependent upon whatever it is. Sometimes people move away for a job or they have hella kids and they weren't that crazy to begin with, or they aren't connected like that, whatever.

But when you have someone who stops banging, staying in the same area, and actively preaching something completely different, that's where they get into trouble.

You got old dudes in the pen that are dependent upon the streets for strength inside their confinement. If less young kids stop going to jail and prison, their strength in numbers goes down. If less young kids stop slanging, that's less revenue, and less clout for them in the pen.

It's not a dropout situation Sur because the whole culture of the streets shifted w/ those two examples. There's been nothing to really shift the people's conciousness/attention. You'll always have gangs but there are times when other affiliations, org. Take precedent over poor youth than gang life, but circumstances have to be right.

Chicago's Conservative Vice Lords (think it was them) incorporated themselves in the 1960's... One of the first (if not the only) street gang in the US to do so... They opened stores, set up neighborhood breakfast programs, & created jobs... All at the local level... Not sure if that's what you mean by "radical change"... But impressive none the less...

well here's the technicality.if you've never been in a gang then you have no say so in a gang.period.again,afika bambatta had say so in his gang and area cause he was a part of it.the gang politics of today are way different then those of the 70's... hispanics in so-cal cant even mention the hierarchy without being looked at with suspicion.

I remember Lil Wayne was speaking on gangs for some documentary and was saying how gangs could turn into something positive like political parties like Republicans and Democrats.

That's a pretty bad example because Repubs and Dems share similar thinking to gangs. They usually always agree with their party even when it's wrong, try to demonize the other side, etc.

They also got federally indicted for mis appropriating funds.. And that was only a front.. They are one of the most powerful/ruthless gangs (of the Peoples/5 alliance) in Chicago.. Selling incredible amounts of heroin and crack, there leader willie Lloyd killed a couple cops, they are absolutely not a symbol or example of change.. They are a street gang through and through..
