Lazy Ass....... no props for you....

During the 1990s, Dan Aykroyd's concept for Ghostbusters III, under various working titles, revolved around "Ghostbusters in Hell", the idea being the characters could switch to a negative version of Manhattan called Manhellton. "We go to the hell side of Manhattan, downtown, Foley Square. It's all where the cops are--they are all blue minotaurs. Central Park is this huge peat mine with green demons there, surrounded by black onyx thousand-foot high apartment buildings with classic red devils, very wealthy. We go and visit a Donald Trump-like character who is Mr. Sifler. Luke Sifler. Lu-cifer. So we meet the devil inside." IGN described the script as being "too technical", with a new team of Ghostbusters that were not clearly delineated and had no group conflict or leading personalities. In 2002, Aykroyd said the film would be animated. Bill Murray has been thought to have held up the making of a third Ghostbusters movie, despite Aykroyd's enthusiasm, due to his preference that the movie be animated and his dislike of sequels. Harold Ramis mentioned in 2005 that he wanted Ben Stiller to join the cast, and the plot was to follow the three Ghostbusters attempting to find a replacement for Venkman while dealing with ghosts rejected from hell.

On September 4, 2008, Columbia Pictures signed on Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky (writers for the U.S. version of The Office) to script a third film. The story will feature old and new Ghostbusters. Ramis had collaborated with Eisenberg and Stupnitsky on Year One. Aykroyd revealed Murray, Weaver and Ernie Hudson will reprise their roles. Murray agreed to reprise the part if Hudson's was expanded to equal the other three leads. Ramis said in June 2009, "I know all the guys want to come back except for [Rick] Moranis, who's disappeared. Not disappeared physically. But he's not too interested in entertainment at this time". Filming may begin in late 2009. Aykroyd also revealed there would be numerous Ghostbuster cadets in the sequel, and suggested Eliza Dushku (a friend of his who has "great comedy chops" and "might be a good villainess") for a role, or Alyssa Milano (who plays Dr. Ilyssa Selwyn in the 2009 video game). In mid-2009, Sony Pictures launched a "Ghostbusters Is Hiring" website to promote the film. Ramis added that Milano would not be the only aspect of the game that may be in the film, telling an interviewer his idea for where Egon would be in the 21st century: "He's been working in the International Institute for Imaginary Science in Geneva, [having] evolved a post-rational non-conclusive logic for dealing with problems of chaos [...] He's gone so abstract, even he doesn't know what he's been doing!" Aykroyd has said that Ghostbusters: The Video Game could be the closest thing to the third Ghostbusters movie but still plans on making the third film.

He was also interviewed in the June 2009 issue of UK Official Xbox Magazine in which he revealed that "Because we’re talking about a third Ghostbusters film and the script is being written, I have very clear ideas about where Egon is. The only hint I’ll give you is that he’s moved past the physical plane of reality – he’s almost entirely on the ethereal plane."

In June 2009, Sigourney Weaver stated that she doesn't expect to be in the third Ghostbusters movie. Speaking to scifisquad.com, the actress said "No, I don't expect to have anything to do with it, although I wish them well".

Huge Ghostbusters 3 news

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Ivan Reitman, who directed the first two "Ghostbuster" movies in the '80s, is gearing up to direct the third installment in the series.

Reitman has been developing the script as a producer, and has now confirmed he will direct the Sony project as well.

Speaking with MTV's Josh Horowitz at the National Board of Review Awards in New York -- where "Up in the Air," which he produced with his son, Jason, picked up a best film award -- Reitman confirmed he would direct and said, "I hope to start shooting it this next year."

Weaver open to 'Ghostbusters 3'

Sigourney Weaver is having second thoughts about reprising her role in the forthcoming Ghostbusters sequel - after learning all her castmates are planning to return to the franchise for a third movie.

Initial reports suggested the actress would be joining former co-stars Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd in a spooky new movie, 20 years after Ghostbusters II - but Weaver insisted she wasn't part of the project.

The new film will reportedly show original Ghostbusters handing over control of their spook-chasing responsibilities to a team of hot young ladies.

And Weaver now admits she will consider returning to the franchise, if she likes the follow-up.

She says, "I haven't read the script but you know, why not? I don't know any details actually but I'm looking forward to reading it. It'll be fun."

Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson will all be returning for the sequel, which will be directed by Ghostbusters filmmaker Ivan Reitman.

It'll be the first Ghostbusters film to hit screens in 21 years.

Murray calls Ghostbusters 3 rumours 'hogwash'

All four of the original Ghostbusters - Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson - are said to have signed up to star in a third film, 21 years after the second installment hit cinemas in 1989.

Original director Ivan Reitman also revealed he is onboard, with plans to start shooting the picture in 2010, and Murray was recently quoted talking about the plot.

But the actor is adamant there are no concrete plans to make a third film - insisting stories about the film are "just talk".

He tells Cinema Blend, "It's just really the movie studio. They love the franchise, they'd just like to re-create it again.

"All this talk is just talk. It drives me nuts, it's just people talking... Until someone actually creates a great script it's just hogwash, it doesn't mean anything.

"It's interesting that people are interested in it, they'd like to see it. It was a great thing, it really was fun. Maybe it should (happen). And if it's such a good idea, then someone will write the screenplay.''

And Murray admits his recent comments, in which he appeared to suggest movie bosses were planning to "kill off" his character at the beginning of the third film, were just a joke.

He adds, "There was always this joke, sort of a half-true, half-joke thing like, 'Well, I'll do it if you kill me off in the first reel.' That was my joke, you know?"

Ivan Reitman says 'Ghostbusters 3' script is ready

LOS ANGELES – Power up that Proton Pack: "Ghostbusters 3" is closer to becoming a reality.
Ivan Reitman, who directed and produced the first two "Ghostbusters" movies, says "a very good script" for the third installment in the comic ghost-hunting tale has been sent to star Bill Murray.
Reitman said Friday that "nothing you've read on the Internet is accurate" and that Murray hasn't yet read the "Ghostbusters 3" script.
But the filmmaker is confident about its content, saying "it's good enough to do, to take the risk of doing again."

im more concerned about the fact the original cast are in there late 50's-60's by now..and the fact that harold ramis (egon) is a lard ass now doesnt help...i dont mind the idea of passing the torch to "younger" ghostbusters...but please for the love of god...no females need take a proton pack...unless they're making the "this aint ghostbusters xxx parody"

i will boycott if eliza douche is in this...that no talent twat ruins anything she has ever been in

who remembers oscar? dana's son in the 2nd film....i think he would make a good candidate for a ghostbuster...

more than likely though...they'll ruin something that was a great part of my childhood

Bill Murray May Really Be the Holdup With ‘Ghostbusters III’

Posted on Tuesday, January 11th, 2011 by Russ Fischer

Briefly: Let’s rewind all the back to the early days of December 2010. That’s when Ernie Hudson said that Bill Murray is part of the holdup around Ghostbusters III. “I know he really cares about his work,” Hudson said, “which is probably why there hasn’t been another Ghostbusters as of yet. Dan and Harold are working on the script. If it happens we will see but Bill has been the hold up. His definition of good is a little bit different than everybody else’s.”
Turns out he may have been right. Sure, Ivan Reitman is out there stumping for the movie just as Dan Aykroyd and others have been. But if a new report is to be believed, there’ll be no movie without Bill Murray. If he doesn’t nod and smile and sign, then the movie doesn’t happen. Ivan Reitman just said that the script was truly just finished, and has been sent to Murray. So if his definition of ‘good’ lines up, then Slimer will pop out of his hole, not be scared by his shadow, and the show will go on. Oops, sorry. Getting my Murray movie metaphors mixed. We’ll have real news on the film just as soon as there is some.

bill murray holding up a 3rd installment is shit...sure he doesnt have to do the movie considering their all rich as fuck ( not sure about ernie hudson though ) from the franchise...and if he thinks making a 3rd film would ruin something it really wouldnt realistically...the movie is destined to fail...the 3rd movie should have been done roughly 15-18 years ago....people will see it absolutely...only for the name and nostalgia of it all...will it not live up to the name no....for the simple reason is they are all way too old/fat to pull it off...even ghostbusters 2 for some reason lacked in comparison to part 1...so many iconic characters/moments in part 1...slimer, stay puft, the demon dogs....ray buying the POS ambulance way overpriced and the look peter gives when he tells him how much....anyways....

if murray is worried about his reputation being tarnished..for fuck sake he's done "charlies angels"
