Posting a video of Talk Talk's in the 80s mix thread reminded me how great Mark Hollis' solo album is. He put it out in 1998 and then hasn't been heard from since. It's a total departure from the sound of early or late Talk Talk and is very minimal and sparse.

So this band is about to release their debut full length on one of my favorite record lables in recent history, Captured Tracks. Almost everything that comes out between their signed artists and the one off releases is ace. Beach Fossils are three guys out of Brooklyn that play, yes RJ, lo-fi "summery" sounding rock songs kind of like Real Estate but the bands don't sound much alike really. The album is solid from front to back and filled with great guitar riffs and oddly enough for the genre some of the best song writing (outside of Woods) that I've heard yet. I borrowed it from the net a few days ago and have listened to it a couple times a day and I'm sure that will pick up once spring/summer really start to pick up here in Seattle.
