Visceral Games, an Electronics Arts studio today announced Dante’s Inferno “Divine Edition” exclusive for the PlayStation 3.

In addition to the game, all those who purchase Dante’s Inferno on the PlayStation 3 will receive this special edition which includes developer commentaries, a Wayne Barlowe digital art book, the soundtrack to the game and a digital version of the complete Longfellow translation of Dante Alighieri’s Inferno all for the standard retail price of $59.99.

The studio also announced that a Dante’s Inferno downloadable demo for PlayStation 3 is available for free on the PlayStation Network today. The demo will also be available on Xbox LIVE on December 24, 2009.

Jonathan Knight, Executive Producer for Dante’s Inferno, had the following to say;

“We are thrilled to offer an exclusive game pack for PlayStation 3 gamers. The PlayStation platform has a long history of delivering AAA action/adventure games. Adding Dante’s Inferno to that rich catalogue is very exciting for the team. And with the demo now available on the PlayStation Network, players can finally get a taste of what awaits them in the full game on Feb 9th.”

In the Dante’s Inferno “Gates of Hell” demo, gamers will experience Dante Alighieri’s re-imagined past, as a crusader who returns home to Florence to discover his true love, Beatrice, murdered. Sworn to her rescue, Dante must journey to the Gates of Hell and beyond to battle undead monstrosities, unholy boss demons, and Death himself. Offering a glimpse into the vast world of Dante’s Inferno, the demo serves as a prelude to the player’s perilous journey through the nine circles of hell.

I was planning to get Dante's Inferno for 360, as I do all multiplats, but this has the potential to sway me to the PS3 version. I dunno, we'll see.

Circle 6 - Heresy

The game should NEVER go past this level. In fact, if it weren't left to myself your system would blow up as soon as you're in the middle of the Heresy level.

EDITED TO ADD: PS3 users can snag the demo today. 360 users have to wait until XMAS eve.

I disagree...i thought it was quite bland and uninteresting. Sure, you dont get to play any of the GOOD levels, but I wasn't blown away by ANY aspect of it at all.

This went from a for sure purchase to a rental.

So what exactly were you HOPING to see in the demo that you didnt see any of?

It just didn't "wow" me like i thought it would. Nothing about it blew me away.

I wouldn't say anything about it "blew me away" but I thought it was a good way to whet the appetite and build the anticipation for the meat and potatoes of the game... it only hinted at the "wow" factor to come.. like I said I wish they would've gave a little more, but I can see why they stopped it where they did...

It's a shame it's releasing when it is, because I'll be tied up with Christmas games, and then ME2. I definitely want to get it, it's really just a matter of when I finish the four games I'll be getting through January.

Playing the demo, and then taking into account the dev diaries I've seen, this game looks like it'll be awesome.

It's a shame it's releasing when it is, because I'll be tied up with Christmas games, and then ME2. I definitely want to get it, it's really just a matter of when I finish the four games I'll be getting through January.

I think the diaries made it look way cooler than it actually was.

Oh well.

Played the demo and yes it is a rip off of GOW but its a damn good one, might have to cope this one.

yeah, I just played the demo and have no idea how you thought it was bland/uninteresting. Did you seriously play it? I mean, riding on some huge monster smashin on foo's wasn't interesting? dead woman with naked titties wasn't interesting?

I know it's just a demo and all, but to me that shit seems like an ill ass game. Better than GOW and all those types of games by far

I played the entire demo. Nothing popped out as anything fantastic. Sure, it was dark, but maybe the renderings weren't that great? I dont know. I will still rent it.
