Rip Ruffles.
I'd be sad as fuck if my cockatiel died. He's at my moms house now, but i've known him since i was 11 or so. My dad found him on the street and now i've known him even longer than my dad. I'd never buy a bird and support the way they are treated in most pet shops, though. My bird is tough as fuck. One time when i was like 12 i was making a cake for my fam and as i was mixing the dough with the electric mixer the bird flew right into the bowl and got stuck. I know it sounds dumb, but that was one of the most traumatic moments of my life, because i could have killed him, but he made it through. Had cake dough all over his feathers for a couple of weeks and he smelled terrible, but he still made it. Then a couple years later he broke his left wing trying to fly, after laying to many eggs and losing too much calcium. Shit is sad as fuck. He can't fly no more. Got all quiet for most of the time. I still take him out of the cage and put him on my shoulder, whenever i get to babysit him. Pirate style.
Aww, poor thing. At least he's still able to prop itself on your shoulder. I have a Cockatiel too and I love letting him out. Funny thing is, mine can't see anything shiny or else it goes after it. I've lost count on how many little crystal stones he's pulled out of earrings, rings, necklaces; maybe he used to be a diamond thief, I dunno. Lol. He pulled the little stone out of my lip ring once. We found him on our tree outside and we've had him ever since. Funny ass little bird, it'll whistle like Mexicans whistle at girls when he sees my sisters and I all fixed up. lol. If you whistle at him, he whistles back. He also imitates you, which is fun. Mine does do this, but a lot of Cockatiels can talk. I guess you gotta train them, though. I have a friend who's Cockatiel says a whole bunch of funny ass shit, especially bad words lol.
first thing i thought when i opened this.

how much this species go for?
They go anywhere from $700-$1,500, depending where or who you get it from. I've been wanting to get a parrot, but I've been trying to decide between an African grey or a Cockatoo. I have a Cockatiel, and he's been with us for like 10 years now. I'd be hella sad if anything happened to him too. :(

Anyway, RIP to Ruffles, he was a beautiful bird. Least he lived a long and happy life with your family.

I never thought that I would cry, but I did. Right now the house is all quiet, I don't hear him making his noises asking for food, whistling at me and what not. Fuck, this shit does hurt.....
