"Donnie Darko" and "Waking Life".

Both are trippy as fuck, but very good. I musta watched "Donnie Darko" about 5 times 'cause it bugged me out so much.

If you seen 'em, what are your opinions?

donnie darko takes a couple of watches to udnerstand it. great movie tho, very underratted.

that s. darko blows from what i have seen. it will be direct to dvd. it's darkos littlest sister, figuring out the mysterys of life it gets to religious for my taste. the setting is in utah. the actress who plays samantha darko is the same little girl in the regualr donnie darko, cept she all grown up now and in real life shes a religious nut. way to fuck up the legacy of donnie darko dumb religious bitch.

people cant leave a good thing alone, they gotta try to convert people into religion, leave people alone they aint need to be saved, shit.

they also have the donnie darko directors cut, which includes xtra footage and the soundtrack is changed up a bit. i kinda like both, they have their own thing going.

id watch the og and the diretors cut, just so you can see the difference between them.

waking life is from the same director that amde 'a scanner darkly'.

the director does some trippy animation layered on top of the actual movie. kinda like those charles scwaab commercials, where its animated layer on top of the actual real commercial.

waking life was aight, a lil boring at tiems, but the main character was jsut pondering things about life and whether life was but a dream. taht is the main thing about the movie.

but i didnt care for the story, i jsu wanted the trippy factor of the movie.

i suggest you rent 'a scanner darkly'. if not ent it to see wynona rider's boobs in animation. also, for the scaner suit that morphs into 50,000 different types of people.

waking life isn't like a scanner darkly at all, its episodes of people speaking about the major philosophical questions of life. You know this the same fool that directed dazed and confused?

donnie darko is cool but its also one of those movies that everyone feels like they have to like it.

You think so? I know quite a few people that don't like it but it's one of my favorite movies personally. But then again for me that means it's somewhere in my top 100 lol. I watch way too many fucking movies. Honestly though it probably falls in my top 20-30 though.

I like donnie darko, but alot of people I know let them tell it and its their favorite movie, but when I ask them why they cant give me a good answer. It just seems like it comes up in groups and everybody is like "OMG thats my fav!"

it varies own peoples own tastes. kinda like napoleon dynomite. love/hate with donnie.

shit it cost them 4+ million to make, but it still hasnt covered the cost to make the movie. weird.

i know for sure if you go to its wikipedia page, i think alot of indie movie critics rate donnie darko in their top 10 or even in their top 5.

only reason i still watch it once a month is cuz there are things that i missed, the director made it really detail oriented, that the music soundtrack had to fit the scene that they was in. very meticulous. but it was well worth it.

also, the reason donnie darko did not do to well is cuz it was released a month after nine aleven, so that plane crash scene of donnie in his bedroom, just didnt go too well with the critics and the general public.

i think had they released it during the spring of 2001. then they woulda have been fine. they couldnt realse it during the sumer, cuz it jsut wasnt a blockbuster.

waking life is way diffrent then scanner darkly. it is more crude. scanner darkly is very polished in the animation department. its got its boring moments, but overall i was really impressed and watch it every so often i feel like trippin out on some scooby snaks.

Frank the Bunny looking crazy as fuck is enough for me!

In all seriousness though I love movies that are open to many forms of interpretation (like No Country for Old men as another example) and I feel that almost anyone can relate to Donnie's character in some form or another.

The first time I saw it in theatres I was ahead of the movie almost the whole time in my head thinking of what could possibly happen next. I can honestly say that it had me by the edge of my seat and never let me down.

I didnt hate it I just didnt get what the big deal about the movie really was...
and yes the way people described it was alot like napoleon dynomite which I didnt really like cuz that movie was serously about nothing altough it did have some funny/memorable parts to it.
