ITS FREAKS said:
its not a challenge for me.

see, ive written all kinds of songs. my main component in my songs are humor. every single one of my songs have lil side joke. i once got into a fist fight in Arizona @ a battle with a shitload of Mississippi rappers when i said "Y'know, Im Kinda Glad That The South Got Flooded Out/ Cuz I Was Sick Of That Crunk Shit Coming Out/"

i always bring some humor - even if its disrespectful - fuck it, its funny.

the only time i really rap about killing someone is when im either 1: pissed the fuck off. or 2: wanna kill my bitch. & most of the time, its on a metaphore tip, not in a literal sense. but if it is meaning a literal sense - then the songs usually say "im pissed the fuck off" or "i wanna kill my bitch".

& most dudes dont test me because..... & im not saying this to say NOONE EVER WILL TEST ME...... but most dudes dont cuz i come off as they little homie. i have best friends who are Piru, & Rip Riders.
i got homies from skyline, lincoln, NBH, all the way up to Nutty Block, Hoover - i mean..... i politic EVERY weekend with EVERYbody. its the only way to make sales. if someone doesnt like me because of my content. i apologize. but the only time people really test me is on some rap shit. ive had stone faced fucking murderers in my face & instead of just bodying me right there, they call up the street & have the young hot spitter come out & try to go bar for bar. i walk a fine line of dissing & not being disrespectful. (most of the time). so when dudes see im the real shit when it comes to the words, man..... & when they see me tear down the tightest of they click.... its always love, cuz i do it in a respectful matter. i know where the fuck i am. i know its their spot. so i do enough to win, but not humiliate.

my name is FREAKS, & i am a battle rapper.

(hi Frreeaakkss)
thats cool man. U know, thats the good thing about being from the southeast and southside. More people out there be on the hip hop thing. Up in northern sd we dont have any kind of movement like yall. I'm sure if we did, it wouldnt be on some g shit. But i havent been home inna minute so i dont know whats really goin on in sd. I'm glad we gotta movement going on though. Somebody gotta put this city on the map soon. stay on it!!

got signed to a MAJOR ,what would ya'll like him to do to best represent ya'll??what he's good at and what works for him...or would ya'll rather him bandwagon and do whatever sells?

discuss....
If a dago cat got signed to a major I think the best way he could rep Dago is to make videos in Dago and collaborate with other Dago artist. The dude dont gotta wear chucks or ride in low riders or be on no gangbanging shit, he can be a regular cat from a chill area and still rep.

As far as rapping though....I think the most important is that he be a SONGWRITER, not just a rapper. Everybody in dago raps...Even my joe college ass can rap. But are you a SONGWRITER? When I say that I mean a dude that can write hooks and can get that radio money...think Akon, Lil John, 50 Cent, T-Pain. Being a songwriter and still being humble enough to have dago artists feature on a few songs here and there is what I'd expect from a Dago artist that blew up.

The hip hop scene is kinda different now. I think the West Coast has alot to offer, but not everyone in different regions, or maybe just he major labels and mainstream dont want to give too much shine to hardcore mobb/gangsta/street muzik.

To get exposure though? Work with anyone. sure keep it westcoast, but aint nothing wrong with working with Florida or NY katz. If anything I think it would help.

When I look at dago cds, I see alot of SD production and features.. which is awesome. You're exposing others within the city. But if its only sold locally or regionally, it might not get alot of exposure.

Just my opinion. I hope the Westcoast can get more shine. from the NW to Southern tip of SD... there are just great talent Hands down.
----------

People are saying keep it West Coast, keep it SD features only.... problem is, that is what is happening right now.

You gotta mix up the formula a bit to get a different result. Honestly, some of the most recent material outta SD is off the hook in my opinion... its just getting others in different regions to know its out there.

I asked all my friends in Seattle if they've seen Cherry chuck gang... and that is a no.

Kourse, if they had someone featured from that region, maybe there could be a bit more exposure.

Make music you like but do a few clean ass jams that could and would get radio/club play. If you have a couple of tracks chicks dig you will sell like geo metros in times of 5 dollar gas.

I think a lot of the new daygo rap music coming out is just jumping on whats hot in the majors, what i liked best about the old daygo rap was it was gutter, some real in your face shit on some like it or not but this is how we roll in the 619, we weren't caught up in the Hollywood image, now everyone trying to come out with that gay record for the radio, we were def more underground back in the day and thats the sound i liked, like the lil c.s., the big june, the mitchy slick, jayo, i mean everyone do what they do and i dont hate on no one making they bread cause i really dont care, but personally i know the majors aint really fucking with the westcoast right now even more daygo cause we always get less attention then the bay or LA thats just how its always been, only way they would fuck with someone out here is if we do gay trendy music like a black eye pea :$ so why everyone worried about getting signed?? we can make enough dough just on some indy shit, and do as we please who cares about the fame its all smoke and mirrors anyways but this is just my thoughts

Its all about visibility. Whats wrong with having a few dago artists on bet and mtv like these other regions? Having dago artists that frequent radio and tv helps the whole dago rap community as a whole. Cause like I always say, "When the mainstream eats, the underground gets a piece".

the only artist who did get some major shine and has a show on MTV dont even want to rep San Diego and we all know about Nick Cannon he from here, has a show and some pull, but when they ask him where he from??? what was his answer "Southern Cal" he dont even wear nothing SD, so i dont see any artist with there current style out here getting on MTV...BET maybe but they changed a lot from back in the day, remember UNCUT now that was gutter but now you just have to go hoppy boppy 2 get on a major lets be real and that all boils down to each artist if they want to do that or not...as for me i'll collect each red cent I can in the underworld and move on to the next project, I may not make much but at least I get to make music and I dont have to answer to anyone plus I get to put out a good message and i'm fine with that but back to the question if an artist got on and had to make that pop hit, well get ya money just try to put on other dudes from the city dont be a "ha zaa"

I think the trick is to do you, but at the same time make your product marketable. Put out quality not quantity and have some sick producers too...If people hate then they hate, if you makin money then who cares, some people gonna love and some people gonna talk smack, its all relative...Oh ya, have some bomb azz artwork!!!

-J, Young

Co-Sign. All the artist can do is be him because thats what got him there in the first place to have a major deal. Plus their are artist already reppin daygo that don't have that so called west coast style, but still rep daygo 100! i.e Tez , I-Rocc

ITS HARD TO BE WEST COAST WITH OUT SELLING OUT FOR EXAMPLE (SNOOP)
Truth is, he is looking out for himself. He's repped west coast and kept it bangin since he came into the game. He worked with alot of people from different regions, both rappers and producers, so he can fit the sounds of certain areas.

And!!! Snoop is one of the most recognized West Coast katz around.

--------------------

I'll be honest, I never really liked Nick Cannon.

i dont think any rap fan from san diego likes Nick Cannon. Then people wonder why he doesnt rep SD all the time. I bet when he performed in Dago he probably got boo'd or something. He's makin movie money though. I'm sure he doesnt give a fuck about an SD movement.

I don't really know what other niggas gotta say, but Daygo anit gonna make it doing shit that has already been done. It has to be so different from what people are used to. You got Marty and Tez right there my nigg. That would be a dope group that really could make some noise IMO. Either could make it though.

I don't really consider nick cannon a rapper, more like an actor/comedian (yeah I know dude has put out albums, but so has eddie murphy and he's not concidered an artist). So I really dont think it matters or not if he reps dago or not...and whats wrong with saying you are from Southern california? its not like he's lying, san diego is in southern california...Believe it or not the are people who have no idea where the hell san diego is. I know cause my folks from back home only know san diego as "that city kinda by Los Angeles".
