During the crack epidemic in Compton, California, there was “money to be made,” and MC Eiht did just that – but only for a short time. “It wasn’t my thing,” he relayed to DJ Vlad. “My perfect example is everybody can’t be doctors [or] lawyers, everybody can’t be football players, [and] everybody can’t be rappers [or] producers. But I think at that time it was an experience I had to go through because I was gangbanging.” Speaking further on the drug, MC Eiht added “it was a way for you to be different from the rest of the pack. We all gangbang, but then crack set you a part.”
