Three students were injured — one of them fatally — in a shooting Thursday on the campus of Sacramento City College, which prompted a lockdown and search nearby for the shooter, police said.
The campus was cleared as officials conducted a classroom-by-classroom sweep for the gunman. Police, with help from a helicopter, searched the campus and surrounding area for the suspect and had yet to find him.
One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, another was taken to a hospital with injuries, and the third was only grazed by a bullet and was being questioned by investigators, said Dustin Poore, of the Los Rios Police Department, which patrols Sacramento City College.
Sacramento police said the three victims are all men.
A stretch of Sutterville Road was still closed for a few hours as police stayed in the area in search of the shooter, who was wearing a white T-shirt and beige cargo shorts, investigators said.
