In honor of what remains one of the most critically-acclaimed debuts in Hip-Hop history, Sirius XM Satellite Radio proudly presents the Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… 20th Anniversary Tour starring Raekwon and Ghostface Killah. The 32-city run kicks off Tuesday, July 7, 2015 in Philadelphia and will travel across the country before wrapping in Los Angeles on August 18.Tickets go on sale Friday, May 15, 2015 and will be available via Live Nation.
Released on August 1, 1995, ONLY BUILT 4 CUBAN LINX received instant critical praise, with reviewers taking special note of RAEKWON’s unique style.
Cuban Linx was made for the drug dealers,” says Raekwon. “That was my lifestyle at one point and we named it Only Built for Cuban Linx because it was built for the strongest people, the strongest crews. The strongest mentality of men. I was telling a story from a street peddlers’ point of view, which a lot of people don’t understand, and this album was dedicated to them. It’s been a blessing that the album surpassed my expectations and millions can relate to the story telling.” In the 20 years since its release, OB4CL continues to receive accolades, appearing on dozens of “Best of” lists including Rolling Stones’ “500 Greatest Albums Of All Times.” The album’s “mafioso rap” style remains a great influence in Hip-Hop.
As he readies the Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… 20th Anniversary Tour, Raekwon continues on a promotional push of his latest solo effort, Fly International Luxurious Arts (F.I.L.A.), which, according to The A.V. Club, goes a long way to remind everyone of why Raekwon remains one of the best to ever yield a microphone.
