Independent hip hop artist, SpenDoe returns with a new full-length album release. “California
Sun God” is the title of the new project, and it contains a total of ten tracks. SpenDoe chose this
title, for a few reasons. which ultimately connected with his love for the California sun.
The production on this new release is handled by C-DUBB (8 tracks), SpenDoe (1 track), and
DJ ULTIM8M (1 track). With SpenDoe, you never know what to expect. Some listeners may be
surprised with the production on this new release.
While SpenDoe’s musical style will forever embody that overall west coast vibe, his style is
different. One can see that the Santa Cruz, CA native is truly a lyricist. SpenDoe is a songwriter,
and a true creative. On “Never Lose” we find SpenDoe dropping gems for listeners. On the
track, SpenDoe details how he manages day to day. He has a clear understanding of life, and
the highs and lows that often come with it.
The title track for this album has a music video to accompany the release. The visual for
“California Sun God” was shot in Santa Cruz, CA (westside and downtown locations) by video
director R. SOL. On the DJ ULTIM8M produced “Go” listeners will hear SpenDoe ride an
up-tempo party groove, showing his versatility as an artist. DJ ULTIM8M also performs on the
intro of “Go.”
There are two remixes that assist in making this release complete. The “Spin Rich” remix will be
a real treat for fans of SpenDoe and FMZ a.k.a. Reggie Stephens of CruzMatik and Forward
Back. The up-tempo and bouncy west coast joint, is a sure hit for those seeking a real party
vibe. SpenDoe never shy’s away from his roots, and gives shout outs when he’s detailing his life
experiences in the golden state.
The second remix is a track titled “I Got Dreams” which features Bay Area rap artist Day Day.
SpenDoe and Day Day performed the original version of this track live, in Bend, Oregon four
times last year. SpenDoe and Day Day reminds listeners that everybody can have a dream, but
you have to go after that dream. This track is g-funk inspired, with subtle guitar sounds, which
lay the foundation for SpenDoe to do what he knows best.
Overall, the new release has much to offer listeners. This release is straight to the point. The
production is solid, and SpenDoe really brings forth topics of concern for the California artist.
