West Coast rapper Hopsin began his career as an actor. Having most notably appeared in the remake of Fame, he spoke about his beginnings on teen series “That’s So Raven” in an interview with Nardwuar.
“The ‘That’s So Raven’ thing, I was actually a day-player on there. I had to audition for it, but I’ve done like hundreds of shows,” he recalled. “That was my job, being an extra, from like 15 up until age 22 years old. That was my job until I actually got an income from rapping…I was on a lot. I was on ‘Lizzie McGuire,’ I’ve done extra work on ‘That’s So Raven,’ I’ve done extra work on ‘Even Stevens,’ I’ve done it on the movie John Tucker Must Die.”
Hopsin also sarcastically made fun of Lil Wayne’s skateboarding abilities.
“My favorite skater rapper of all time who’s like, really killing it, is my nigga Lil Wayne. He be shredding – psych. He’s f**king wack,” he said. “Yelawolf is a [good] skater rapper. He’s super dope. That’s probably the only one that I’ll co-sign.”
