Last night it was the And 1 Hoop thing at the coliseum arena. Probably was about 10k people out there for it. Papertrail was out there. We didnt go inside, we stayed outside to lace the cars with flyers and door hangers. Then when the show was over we hit people with the hand to hand.
ANyway it was just about over. Everybody was out there flossin and doin they thang, right. It was these two groups of Mustangs. All freaked out. Shootin aroun real level like they had posi traction, gold thangs. ANyway, it was time to bounce and i was a bottleneck at the car exit. So i hit the first group up with flyers. Basically youngsters. Cars look real nice, stereo on bump. I got one my self, classic 65 and a half, but these cats was obviously on floss mode. They cut out about 10 minutes later. The second group of Stangs rolls through...exact same thing, they was bumbin some fast music, Sounded like video channel dance music. They had it goin. WOmen out there dancin, some of em takin they shirts off, real freak-nik type stuff. Now these car systems was so loud that they had a massive crowd of people around them. But the music they had on... I don't know. Then the funniest thing happened. This big ass nigga rolls up in a Caprice Classic. POUNDIN! But wait a second, what was that he was playin...."BEEEeeiiiiiiiiiTCH... FUNKY FRESH, FROM OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA...DANGEROUS MUSIC..."
Too SHort's DOpe Fiend Beat. Man, he had duct tape on one window, no gold ones, two or three tones on it, trunk was bouncin all over the place, you know how them Caprice's rattle when you put somethin in the trunk. But the bass was so thick, the song was so pure that the rattlin just made it feel better. Man, about 10 of us went up to the youngsters and had them turn they shit down. Reason, "Nigga, this is Oakland, and we bumpin Too SHort back here." They was wit it, but they was probably confused. ALl of a sudden, these girls who had been dancin looked around and everybody had they heads bobbin like Oil derricks singin, "I'm that nigga you will answer to, if I say bitch jump thats what you'll do." Man, it was ghetto Heaven out there for a second.
So anyway, we had a crowd bumpin this shit right. Then he broke out the Freaky Tales. Man..... yall know what I'm talkin about. BUMPIN!! SLoppyy, FREAKY TALES. Fools went crazy. For real. They even had them bike police out there just smilin. Niggas was out there singin freaky tales. This went on for about 10 minutes (long ass song). WHen it was over, I gave dude a copy of our album (that niggas deserved it). He put it in and started bumpin it. Fools was luuuuvin it.
We could have sold a gang of em right there but we didn't have any CD's to sell - just promo shit and a few CD-R's (thank God) of about 8 songs. Even though the release date isn't for 3 weeks, you gotta be prepared to make your moneyt whenever it presents itself.
But all in all I would say it was some of the funniest stuff I've seen inmy life. An old ass caprice classic bumpin too short gettin more love than 7 or 8 freaked out mustangs. Only in the Bay, you feel me. I know one thing... with about 5k hangers oncars and maybe 2k hand to hand..... it was a good promo night, but that was NUTHIN compared to gettin that dude to bump our shit and have niggas sayin, "Damn, that shit knock." Great promo night. I expected to see every Bay Area Label out there promotin. Don't get many chances like that. Plus wit all the parkin lot pimpin goin on, fools was comin to us we didn't even know and askin to get a stack of flyers to pass out so they could get they pimp on.
