MORE ON LESNAR VS. COUTURE
by Mike Johnson @ 9:56 AM on 9/2/2008

UFC has announced they are going to hold a conference call to make a "major announcement" at 3 PM Eastern. That announcement is expected to be that Randy Couture has come to terms to return to the company and that he will face former WWE champion Brock Lesnar on 11/15 in Portland, Oregon.

FORMER WWE CHAMP BROCK LESNAR VS. MMA LEGEND RANDY COUTURE EXPECTED TO BE ANNOUNCED TOMORROW FOR NOVEMBER UFC PPV
by Mike Johnson @ 1:33 AM on 9/2/2008

Yahoo! Sports is reporting that UFC is expected to announce that former WWE champion Brock Lesnar will face UFC champion Randy Couture on 11/15 in Portland, Oregon in Couture's official return to the company following many months of back and forth legal battling between the two sides.

The match will easily end up being one of the biggest MMA bouts of the year and one hell of a test for Lesnar. The announcement is expected to come at noon tomorrow, according to the Yahoo report. Couture has been at odds with UFC since October 2007.

The fight would be Lesnar's third UFC bout. His current MMA record is 2 wins, 1 loss.

Thanks to James Brown.

Brock set the precedent for himself. He ran his mouth like he could take on the big boys, and he might be able to. I doubt he'll win this fight, but at least Couture realized that he'll never make it as an actor. A sequal to a prequal is a lame ass handle for a film, and I'd rather not be a part of it at all. I'm talking about the Scorpion King 2.

IT IS OFFICIAL: FORMER WWE CHAMPION BROCK LESNAR VS. RANDY COUTURE WILL TAKE PLACE IN UFC
by Buck Woodward @ 4:08 PM on 9/2/2008

During a currently ongoing conference call with the MMA media, Ultimate Fighting Championship announced that they had come to terms with MMA legend and UFC Heavyweight champion Randy Couture to return to the flagship MMA promotion. Couture had been at odds with UFC over contractual issues since late 2007.

Couture's first opponent will indeed be former WWE champion Brock Lesnar on 11/15 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Arena. It will undoubtedly be the biggest test in Lesnar's UFC run. We expect to have audio of the call up in the PWInsider.com Elite section shortly.

It will be a five-round fight, and Couture's UFC Heavyweight Championship is on the line. The winner of this fight will face the winner of the December fight between Interim Heavyweight Champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir in 2009.
