VICTORVILLE (AP) ― Authorities say a 2-year-old boy was struck by a car and killed early Saturday when he crawled out of his crib and walked in the dark for nearly a mile to a busy road in Victorville.
San Bernardino Sheriff's Department officials say a passerby spotted Kotie Cash Robinson-Peay walking west in the eastbound lanes of Bear Valley Road about 3 a.m.
The witness turned around to warn oncoming motorists but a car had already hit the child, throwing him about 70 feet. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead at 3:21 a.m.
The sheriff's department is investigating how the little boy got out of his crib and the house. His mother was at home at the time of the incident.
