As a Ricky Hatton ring return continues to build steam, there are several names being mentioned for to train the Manchester star for his comeback. One of the names floating about is Freddie Roach, trainer for Amir Khan, Manny Pacquiao and several others. Speaking with Gareth Davies of The Telegraph, Roach doesn't appear to be thrilled about possibly being approached for the job. He doesn't see what he can do for Hatton to make him better at this point, but he could have helped him if they started working together several years ago.

“Obviously Ricky has to make his own mind up about coming back or retiring, but I’d be a little bit concerned about training Ricky now," said Roach. "He has suffered two bad knockouts, to the two top fighters of this generation, but if he had come to me a few years ago, I could really have worked with him.”

“Ricky has had a great career, he has been in some real wars, and is a great fighter. I think I could really have done something with him.”

^^I don't think it has to do with golden boy, more so that ricky hatton is pretty much at the end of his career at this point. Roach can't help Ricky not get knocked the fuck out again.

Also, if I'm not mistaken Roach does train a couple Golden Boy fighters. Rumor is Golden Boy is going to announce a big signing today (according to their website or facebook) and I'm thinking that person is Amir Khan, who is trained by Freddie Roach and who's contract is to expire with current promoter Frank Warren. I could be way off though, I just don't know any other "big" names for Golden Girl.
