we were too late on the deadline.
which is too bad; i'm a jet li enthusiast,
tho black mask was 1 of his worse movies.
the director, tsui hark, however is the shit
when he wants to be. he made the best
van damme movies ever & his greatest
work to date id "TIME & TIDE."
rent that muthufucka & tell me what
you think.

Time and Tide has some dope special effects and a crazy story. I like the part where their descending the wall of the building through the window and Busting rounds that shit was tight. Tsui Hark is more Hit then miss with his movies, but I totaly agree with you. He's made many classics. A movie that you should check out if you haven't already Loki is "Brother" by Takeshi "Beat" Kitano. It's a slower paced Yakuza coming to America flick. Try not to get the watered down americanized Sony version. The import is way tighter.

@Loki

2 questions...

How did "One Of Us" get leaked on the net like 2-3 years ago?Cus i had it WAY before Ced released it on one of those "fake" Lynch albums...

Which Jet Li movie is your favorite?

That is some funny shit, because I was just thinking about this? I was gonna ask why it didnt make it on the soundtrack. Because I heard the same track with Loki talking about it in the begining.

i agree: tsui hark is hit or miss but when he's
on he's right up there w/ old school john woo
or ringo lam. have you seen black mask 2?
it's even WORSE than 1. i just about cried,
having wasted precious hours of my time
hoping for another TIME & TIDE. no such luck.
have you seen ZU WARRIORS? iv'e seen ads
for it here but it never saw release. you got
any data on that?

re: beat takeshi. been a fan of his for years.
didn't know sony watered it down, where
can i get the import? i still think his best
was FIREWORKS. that muthufucka is hard.
& he was in a new 1, it's on the new releases
wall, i forget the name, but it's the story of
a boy looking for his mother who befriends
takeshi on the way. it's actually more of
a comedy & a li'l slow but you get to see
takeshi's comedian side which is pretty
funny. he actually used to be a comedian
in japan, really funny, until he had a
motorcycle accident, near death, & came
back to make gritty yakuza flicks. needless
to say i'm an afficiando of his work.

best jet li: once upon a time in china 1.
the last 20 minutes, w/ the ladder fight
(ripped-off & watered down in america's
MUSKETEER movie) & the endangered
baby (what is it w/ tsui hark & babies?)
is tight as fuck.

there's another movie of his i saw at
a movie theatre years ago & never got
the title, i haven't found on american shelves
yet, pissing me off. it starts w/ this demon
killer who jet li fights w/ bamboo staffs
near the end, i recall it being real good.
ring a bell w/ you at all? i would love
to see that again. 2nd runner up would
be jet li's version of THE BODYGAURD.
the final fight scene w/ the leaking gas
was brilliant. & imma say ROMEO MUST DIE
was very good. better than i expected &
a good example of what a good modern
martial arts movie can be.

sai: you taking your name from the weapons
elektra uses?

re: "one of us," we played it on the old
school siccness radio (back in the roloc days)
& im sure folks made copies. but i was never
pleased w/ my verse in that 1. i've since
cannibalised it for parts in other songs.

I haven't seen Blask Mask 2, because I read that Jet Li was not going to be in it and the plot didn't sound to gravy to me, like the dissapointing "Fist of Legend 2". I really hate how they can come with such garbage and call it a sequel. I know what you mean on the dissapointment, I fell for the old school it's a "Bruce lee" flick and end up seeing a "Bruce Li" film. Thats what "Fist Of Legend 2" did to me, they gave me the okie doke.

I own the old school "Zu Warriors" which is classic wirefu and the one you are talkin about is the new remake version "Legend of Zu", that movie is pretty tight. The special effects are really good. The movie reminds me of a cross between "Crouching Tiger" and "Star Wars" lol, it's crazy! The scenery is off the hook. If you like the special effected Kung Fu you should also check out "A Man Called Hero", "Storm Riders" the imported full length version and "Bichunmoo" probably the best Korean made Kung Fu flick.

The import version of Brother is so hard to find. I've been tryin to hook my brother up with one after he bought the Sony version. Fireworks was dope his artwork is crazy. The movie with the boy orphan is "Kikuchiro". Yeah Takeshi is a serious cat with a hilarious dark humor to him. Beat's a prankster in his flicks. He's quite the contrast to "Chow Yun Fat" in like "Hard Boiled" or "A Better Tomorrow".

The ladder fight was crazy, some pretty innovative stuff there. The movie with the Jet Li movie with the Demon killer doesn't strike a chord wit me. I'd have to know a little more and I might be able to figure out which one that is.

The name Sai was givin to me in prison and really had no meaning.

"The movie with the Jet Li movie with the Demon killer doesn't strike a chord wit me. I'd have to know a little more and I might be able to figure out which one that is. "

DAMN! i had hopes. it's gonna haunt me to my
dying days. in the 1st scene the demon kills
somebody by wiping his face off. that & the
bamboo fight are all i can remember. plus
i think it was a part of the series where jet
li is the son of a famous triad family...imma
do some homework on this....

re: repackaged jet li, they done it a couple
of times. public must be buying that shit, tho.

& i'll rent those others you mention. speaking of
korean flicks, what about that SHIRI? second
time around i found some flaws in it, but no
american movie would have the hero doing
what he did to his girl. (no spoilers here for
those that aint seen it.)

re: "one of us," i felt i could have done more.
& the cannibalised parts fit nicely where i
put them.

& i heard that the zu warriors is a remake, where can
i get a copy?
