MTV will be producing and filming a pilot episode of a new wrestling promotion in conjunction with California's Big Vision Entertainment (who have distributed a number of wrestling DVDs nationally, including the Hardcore Homecoming events) in Los Angeles, California next month.

A complete press release with details of the project is expected to be released later today. There is no word on what talent will be involved with the pilot taping, but the venue is expected to be intimate, holding just a few hundred fans.

Chris Murray from Between the Ropes informs us:

According to PWTorch.com, wrestlers involved in the taping of the pilot will include Vampiro, Justin Credible, Sean Waltman, New Jack, Jack Evans, Matt Sydal, and Teddy Hart.

MTV's wrestling pilot will tape February 9 in Los Angeles, with a card that features Sean Waltman, Teddy Hart, Jack Evans, New Jack, Vampiro, Matt Sydal and P.J. Polaco.

The presently unnamed promotion, which is a joint effort between MTV and Big Vision Entertainment, sent out a request on Craigslist looking for "a hip and trendy “MTV style” commentator that can grab hold of the action." The ideal announcer would be young, have professional wrestling knowledge and be "very attractive."

The product will be very MTVesque, combining music and reality show elements with in-ring wrestling. It will not be a direct competitor of TNA and WWE.

SoCal Uncensored, which covers the Southern California pro wrestling scene, released a list of scheduled dark matches for the 2/9 MTV wrestling pilot.

Disco Machine & Joey Ryan & Topgun Talwar vs. Scorpio Sky & Zokre & Phoenix Star

Puma vs. Tommy Williams

Human Tornado vs. Delirious vs. Luke

According to SCU, the dark matches are in place so that MTV and Big Vision Entertainment can determine who to contract should the show get picked up as a full series.

As reported, wrestling on the main card will be Vampiro, Justin Credible, Sean Waltman, New Jack, Jack Evans, Matt Sydal and Teddy Hart.
