yeah man its a midi sequencer/sampler.

You can plug a synth into it using midi, if that's what you mean. The sounds from the synth would still come out of the synth though.

you can control modules with it, or download sounds and run them internally, think of it as a keyboard controller, with memory, and pads instead of keys! i love my mpc1000!

 

[Sac]

plug the midi ins and outs (in to out) and turn the bottom left of the mpc screen to midi. I think it says pgm by defualt then start hitting keys or pads and you should be able to hear you synth.
