Tarver/Jones

WTF happened to Jones? I’ll admit I was going for Jones this fight even though I went for Tarver the first two fights, but damn, Jones had absolutely no offense, he was all D and all taunting.

At first, it was entertaining and looked like Jones was having fun and putting on a great show. But after a while you start thinking, “Ok Jones, you’re taunting is on point but eventually your going to have to back that shit up” and sure enough, he never did. A few glimpses of offense here and there but for the most part he just kept circling the ring and staying away from Tarver.

IMO, Jones was scared of Tarver. Ever since he got knocked out, Jones’s mentality changed and he feared that big hook, which kept Jones at bay the entire fight. Eventually Tarver caught up to Jones and nearly knocked him out in the 11th round, but ran out of gas and couldn’t finish him off. Anyone who saw the fight could see the look on Jones’s face during the 11th, he looked like he just smoked a fat blunt and was definitely dazed.

This is from the 11th round when Tarver was fucking up Jones and swung so hard he nearly went over the ropes.

Yeah 206 I agree with you. I think Jones was scared to get hit.... But Jones weighed in more than Tarver. I honestly thought Roy was going to win. He weighed more and had the speed advantage. When he punched, he was connecting on some flush shots. I remember an uppercut landing that caught Tarvers attention. I think Roy could of knocked Tarver out if he would of stayed busy. Tarver couldn't fully committ to a punch when Roy was getting off. And Tarver would only get off on Roy when Roy was on the ropes. Tarver couldn't touch Jones in the middle of the ring. After rounds 4 and 5 I thought Roy was about to take over. But he just stopped punching. All he had to do was punch to keep Tarver off and covering up. Too much showing off and not punching. I was disappointed in Roy because I thought he looked good enough to win. He did get caugh in the 11th though. He was dazed for real.

I agree with everything you said. I thought Jones was going to win too, he seemed like he was hungry since he refused to make any statements to the press and he had his dad back on his side. Even the people I was with that were going for Tarver admitted that they thought Jones could have knocked him out, if only he would’ve attacked Tarver more. I don’t know, physically Jones was there but I guess mentally he still hasn’t recovered from the KO.

Yeah I don't think he was there mentally. He was trippin off of getting knocked out. And what happened the the left hooks that Roy used to throw? It's not like Tarver is all that good with his right hand. He caught Roy in the 11th with a right but I don't think Tarver is good at throwing his right besides the right that landed on Roy. Tarver basically just sets you up for his straight left. All you have to do is stay out the way of his left. Roy could of had him.

good...i hate showoffs like jones, especially when their stats are padded w no name chumps...

the only time i ever seen jones fight he was up against some chump who couldnt hold tysons cum cup...jones could have knocked him out in the 3rd rnd yet the fght went the distance because jones kept toying with him dancing, taunting, and all that stupid shit he does...probably one of the most boring fights ive seen...shit i think it might have been the fight w ruiz, not sure though...im glad it ends like this...can anyone name 5 quality opponents he faced?

will he fight tyson next?they could both use the fight.

James Toney and Bernard Hopkins to name a couple. That Ruiz fight was when he stepped up to Heavyweight, which was a big mistake. If you judge him off that one fight, then yeah he wouldnt look that great, but seriously he is one of the best Middleweight-super Middleweight fighters of all time

He should've been 50-0 before the first Tarver loss but he got a bullshit DQ earlier in his career. Jones is definitely one of the great ones, but he got screwed by being on the Fight Night cover just like Hopkins did this year.. I hope whoever goes on Fight Night 3 knows what he is getting into. (Not Serious about the fight night stuff)

That fight was bullshit, How can you taunt with all that bullshit and still dance away like a bitch.
The beginning of the fight was hella boring.
