How big of a canvas do you work with?

For all of you that do album covers, how big do you start with? I always do it as big as I can, of course in 300dpi but then I can't do them very big or any images I try to import into it are way too small.

I start at 300 dpi of course(Sometimes higher).But to add to that.I have a digital camera,scanner and a image CD.So when I import images to the big canvas.I already have it at a resolution (big size) because thats what I set it too......1

@Quid-if your makin covers for print, they have to be at LEAST 300dpi........or they gonna come out crappy

When I do covers, I usually work at 1500x1500 at 400 dpi.

Depends on how big/high quality the pictures I am using are though. If they're a lot bigger than that, I increase my size to 2000x2000 or so.
