It’s the true American story of a legendary family feud—one that spanned decades and nearly launched a war between Kentucky and West Virginia. Hatfields & McCoys, a three-part miniseries, showcases an all-star cast led by Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton. It chronicles a clash of clans that inspired passion, vengeance, courage, sacrifice, crimes and accusations, while forever transforming the two families and the region they lived in.

The Hatfield-McCoy saga begins with Devil Anse Hatfield (Costner) and Randall McCoy (Paxton). Close friends and comrades until near the end of the Civil War, they return to their neighboring homes—Hatfield in West Virginia, McCoy just across the Tug River border in Kentucky—to increasing tensions, misunderstandings and resentments that soon explode into all-out warfare between their families. As hostilities grow, friends, neighbors and outside forces join the fight, bringing the two states to the brink of another civil war.

The nation's innate desire to watch West Virginians kill each other resulted in huge ratings for History Channel's Hatfields And McCoys, with last night's premiere of the three-part, Kevin Coster/Bill Paxton miniseries bringing in 13.9 million viewers—the largest-ever basic-cable audience for a non-sports show, in the sense that hillbillies hunting each other is not considered a sport. In announcing its record-setting ratings, which marked the first time in years that the History Channel has been associated with actual history, the network gloated that it considered itself successful in its efforts to "own historical drama," which it plans to continue to pursue across all epochs of America's past that might lend themselves to movie stars wearing dirty clothes while getting shot. The second and third parts of Hatfields And McCoys air tonight and tomorrow at 9 p.m. if you want to get in on that.

last part of the series is tonight, but i still haven't seen 1 black person. All the slaves probably said "Fuck it, these crazy ass crackas are so busy killing each other over a damn pig, lets bounce." the slaves didn't even have to run from the blood hounds, just strolled way.

McCoys were emotional stupid hillbilly's.......

Hatfields were educated-thinkers, with some dumb-ass relatives.

the interesting thing I found was that Devil-vance was the leader of his family, when he had elder family members and a brother that was a judge, not to mention older....

I thought he must of done things that made them all either fear him or respect him....

Good 3 part series, Randall Mcoy was a isolationist and bible thumper thats why his sons and daughter did stupid shit mostly because of his neglect, probably because he had ptsd. devil vance provided jobs even to some mcoys in his lucrative logging business thats why he had respect by everyone, they even made a statue of him made in italy.
