POMONA, Calif. (AP) - Former NFL place-kicker Tony Zendejas has been ordered to stand trial on charges that he drugged a woman at his sports bar and raped her.
A Superior Court judge in Pomona on Thursday found enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial.
Prosecutors allege that on Jan. 26 Zendejas gave a woman a drink at his San Dimas bar that made her groggy. She told authorities she woke up in a nearby motel and had been raped.
His attorney says the accusations are false.
Zendejas, who was arrested in July, is free on bail. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison.
Zendejas played for the Los Angeles Rams, Houston Oilers, Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers.
